만일 이 산이 내 소유라면 그 소유 관념으로 인해 잔잔한 기쁨과 충만한 여유를 즉각 반납하게 될 것이다. 등기부에 기재해 관리해야 할 걱정. 세금을 물어야 하는 부담감 또는 어느 골짜기에 병충해는 없을까. 나무를 베어 가는 사람은 없을까 해서 한시도 마음이 놓이지 않을 것이다. 다행이도 이 산은 내 개인의 소유가 아니기 때문에 마음 놓고 바라볼 수 있고내 뜰처럼 즐길 수 있다.차지하는 것과보고 즐기는 것은이처럼 그 틀이 다르다. '살아 있는 것은 다 행복하여라' 중에서
The Happiness of Just Watching
If I called this mountain my possession, then owing to the perspective that would then arise, I would immediately be forced to give upmy peaceful happiness and abundant calm. I would not be able to put my mind at ease for even a second,with worries about managing the entries in the official registry, the sense of burden in paying taxes and fees,wondering whether some valley will fall prey to insects and disease, or if someone will surreptitiously come and cut some trees down. Luckily though, because the mountain is not my possession, I can rest easy and look on, enjoying it as if it were my own garden. In just this way, between owning somethingand just watching and enjoying it, the framework is totally different. From 'May All Beings Be Happy'
