Over the past 15 years, Dan Smith’s name and face have appeared on fliers in coffee shops, laundromats, and small businesses across New York City. The six-word slogan on each flier says: Dan Smith Will Teach You Guitar. The result is that Mr. Smith stays as busy as he wants to be, teaching his students how to play the guitar. Many enthusiastic students hang his fliers in new places. It’s their way of saying, “Dan Smith taught me guitar. He can teach you too.”

The pages of the Bible are filled with accounts of people telling what God has done for them. one of the most vivid appears in John 9 where Jesus encountered a man blind from birth and miraculously enabled him to see (vv.1-7). After repeated questioning by skeptical local religious leaders, the man could only say, “One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see” (v.25).
If you had six words to express what Christ has done for you and can do for others, what would you say? Perhaps, “Jesus Christ will forgive your sin,” or “... give you hope” or “... save your soul.” When Jesus has changed our lives, we affirm His power to do for others what He has done for us.

John 9:1-11,24-25
[1] As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. [2] His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" [3] "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. [4] As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. [5] While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." [6] Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. [7] "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. [8] His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, "Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?" [9] Some claimed that he was. Others said, "No, he only looks like him." But he himself insisted, "I am the man." [10] "How then were your eyes opened?" they demanded. [11] He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see."
[24] A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "Give glory to God," they said. "We know this man is a sinner." [25] He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. one thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"

여섯 마디 간증
[ 요한복음 9:1 - 9:11 ] - 찬송가380장
한 가지 아는 것은 내가 맹인으로 있다가 지금 보는 그것이니이다 - 요한복음 9:25
지난 15년간, 뉴욕시의 커피숍이나 세탁소, 조그만 가게들에서는 댄 스미스의 이름과 얼굴이 실린 전단지를 계속 볼 수 있었습니다. 그 전단지에는 여섯 마디로 된 다음과 같은 짧은 광고문구가 쓰여 있습니다. “댄 스미스가 당신에게 기타를 가르쳐 드리겠습니다.” 그 광고 덕분에 스미스는 자기가 원하는 만큼 학생들에게 기타를 가르치며 아주 바쁜 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 그가 가르친 많은 열정적인 학생들은 그의 전단지를 새로운 장소에다 붙여놓습니다. 그런 행동은 마치 그들이 이렇게 말하는 것과 같습니다. “ 댄스미스가 내게 기타를 가르쳐주었습니다. 그가 당신도 가르칠 수 있습니다.”
성경은 자신들에게 역사하신 하나님을 증거하는 사람들의 이야기로 가득 차 있습니다. 가장 생생한 이야기 중 하나가 요한복음 9장에 등장합니다. 거기에는 예수님이 시각장애인으로 태어난 사람을 만나 기적을 행하여 볼 수 있게 해주었다는 이야기가 있습니다(1-7절). 이 일을 믿지 못하는 그 지역 종교지도자들의 반복되는 질문에 그는 다음과 같이 대답할 수밖에 없었습니다. “한 가지 아는 것은 내가 맹인으로 있다가 지금 보는 그것이니이다”(25절).
그리스도께서 당신을 위해 하신 것과 또 다른 사람들을 위해서 하실 수 있는 것을 여섯 마디로 표현한다면, 당신은 뭐라고 하시겠습니까? 아마도 이렇게 말하시겠지요. “예수 그리스도는 당신의 죄를 용서해 주실 것입니다.” 아니면 “...당신에게 소망을 주실 것입니다.” 혹은 “...당신의 영혼을 구원해주실 것입니다.” 예수님이 우리의 인생을 바꾸어놓으셨을 때, 우리는 주님이 우리를 위해 하신 일을 그 권능으로 다른 사람들을 위해서도 하실 수 있다고 단언할 수 있습니다.
“내가 맹인으로 있다가 지금 보는 그것이니이다.”
하나님이 하실 수 있는 일은 비밀이 아니네 다른 사람들에게 하신 일들을 당신에게도 하실 것이네 팔을 활짝 펴시고, 당신을 용서하실 것이네 하나님이 하실 수 있는 일은 비밀이 아니네
우리의 삶은 모든 사람들에게 읽히는 그리스도의“추천서”이다.
