| According to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. — Titus 3:5 |
By the time he was 16, Morris Frank (1908–1980) had lost his sight in both eyes. Several years later, he traveled to Switzerland where he met Buddy, the canine who would help to inspire Frank’s involvement with the Seeing Eye guide-dog school.
With Buddy leading the way, Frank learned to navigate busy sidewalks and intersections. Describing the freedom his guide provided, Frank said, “It was glorious: just [Buddy] and a leather strap, linking me to life.” Buddy gave Morris Frank a new kind of access to the world around him.
God’s Holy Spirit gives us access to abundant spiritual life in Christ. When we accept Christ as Lord, God washes our sins away and renews us “by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior”(Titus 3:5-6 niv). once we know Christ, the Holy Spirit helps us experience God’s love (Rom. 5:5), understand God’s Word (John 14:26), pray (Rom.8:26), and abound in hope (Rom.15:13).
Today, as you think about your relationship with God, remember that the Spirit is your guide to life in Christ (Rom.8:14). |
Titus 3:1-11
[1] Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
[2] to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
[3] For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
[4] But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
[5] not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
[6] whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[7] that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
[8] This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
[9] But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.
[10] Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,
[11] knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned. | |

모리스 프랭크(1908-1980)는 열여섯 살 때 양쪽의 시력을 모두 잃었습니다. 그는 몇 년 후 스위스로 건너가 맹인견 버디를 만났습니다. 이 만남은 프랭크가 나중에 맹인견 학교에 관여하게 된 계기가 되었습니다.
버디의 인도에 따라 프랭크는 복잡한 인도나 횡단보도를 건너가는 것을 배웠습니다. 그의 안내견이 제공해주는 자유를 이야기하면서 프랭크는 “단지 [버디]와 가죽 끈 만으로 내가 생명에 연결되었다는 것은 참 대단한 일이었습니다.”라고 말했습니다. 버디는 모리스 프랭크에게 그 주위의 세계에 새롭게 접근할 수 있는 길을 열어주었습니다.
하나님의 성령은 우리에게 그리스도 안에 있는 충만한 영적인 삶에 접근할 수 있게 길을 열어주십니다. 우리가 그리스도를 주님으로 영접할 때, 하나님은 우리의 죄를 씻어주시고 우리에게 “우리 구주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 그 성령을 풍성히 부어 주사”(딛 3:6) 우리를 새롭게 해주십니다. 우리가 일단 주님을 알게 되면 성령으로 말미암아 하나님의 사랑을 경험하게 되고(롬 5:5), 하나님의 말씀을 이해하게 되며(요 14:26), 기도하게 되고(롬 8:26) 소망이 넘치게 됩니다(롬 15:13).
오늘 하나님과 당신의 관계를 생각해보면서, 성령님이 그리스도 안에 있는 생명으로 당신을 인도하는 안내자임을 기억하십시오(롬 8:14). |
디도서 3:1-11
[1] 너는 그들로 하여금 통치자들과 권세 잡은 자들에게 복종하며 순종하며 모든 선한 일 행하기를 준비하게 하며
[2] 아무도 비방하지 말며 다투지 말며 관용하며 범사에 온유함을 모든 사람에게 나타낼 것을 기억하게 하라
[3] 우리도 전에는 어리석은 자요 순종하지 아니한 자요 속은 자요 여러 가지 정욕과 행락에 종 노릇 한 자요 악독과 투기를 일삼은 자요 가증스러운 자요 피차 미워한 자였으나
[4] 우리 구주 하나님의 자비와 사람 사랑하심이 나타날 때에
[5] 우리를 구원하시되 우리가 행한 바 의로운 행위로 말미암지 아니하고 오직 그의 긍휼하심을 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 하셨나니
[6] 우리 구주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 그 성령을 풍성히 부어 주사
[7] 우리로 그의 은혜를 힘입어 의롭다 하심을 얻어 영생의 소망을 따라 상속자가 되게 하려 하심이라
[8] 이 말이 미쁘도다 원하건대 너는 이 여러 것에 대하여 굳세게 말하라 이는 하나님을 믿는 자들로 하여금 조심하여 선한 일을 힘쓰게 하려 함이라 이것은 아름다우며 사람들에게 유익하니라
[9] 그러나 어리석은 변론과 족보 이야기와 분쟁과 율법에 대한 다툼은 피하라 이것은 무익한 것이요 헛된 것이니라
[10] 이단에 속한 사람을 한두 번 훈계한 후에 멀리하라
[11] 이러한 사람은 네가 아는 바와 같이 부패하여 스스로 정죄한 자로서 죄를 짓느니라 | |
