아침산책

 

 

 

 내가 좋아하는 California Oak Trees,  도토리를 먹이삼은 다람쥐들의 낙원이다.

이들이 파해친 수많은 구덩이 때문에 내가 저절로 고개 숙이고 걸어야한다.

오늘도 마지막에 시원찮은 왼발이 구멍으로... 다행히 넘어지진 않았으나 아찔한 순간이었다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

수년 간의 가뭄으로 먹을 것이 심히 부족하오니 비 내려주시라고 높이 올라가서 빌어보는 다람쥐...

 

가을에 잎이 갈색(brown)으로 변해서 떨어지는 American Sycamore Trees.

Southern California의 건조한 땅에서도 잘 자란다.

고국에서 학교교정에서 흔히 볼 수 있었는데 '프라타너스나무'라고 불렀었다.

The best way to encourage friends and others may be to just be near.

 

 

Eucalyptus -  오스트랄리아가 원산지인 이 나무는 여러 종류가 있는데

Koala가 즐겨 먹고 스르르 조는데 사람도 이 나무 아래에서 공기를 쇠면 relax 된다고 한다.

물을 주지 않은 땅은 불에 태운듯이 바삭바삭 말라있다.

야생밀보리가 섞여있어서 고국에서 오유월에 보리타작을 하는 그런 내음이 난다.

부리(bill)가 노랗고 발이 까맣기에 Great Egret이라는 걸 안다.

가장 키가 큰 나무는 오스트랄리아가 원산지인  Eucalyptus.

 

푸르른 나무가 있는곳은 물이 찰박찰박한 늪이다.

 

남미사람으로 보이는 이분은 깡통을 주으려고 이 메라른 길을 마냥 걸어간다.

걷는 나에게 극진히 인사를 하고 지나치는 신사.

그 어디에도 버려진 깡통 하나가 보이지 않는데...

 

캠프장 옆길인데 내가 좋아하는 약각 오솔길 같은 길이다.

이 길에는 토끼(Desert Cottontail)들이 많은데  어찌나 잽싼지 사진에 담기가 어렵다.

그래도 동물원 처럼 많으니 살살 걸어가면서 찍어보자.

날 보더니 그만 토낄까 그냥 뛰어갈까 궁리중이다.^^

 

 

 

 

 

 

잘 어울려서 살아가는 Desert Cottontail.

극심한 가뭄에도 식구들이 점점 많아지는 듯하다.

 

재생시킨 물이라 수영은 금지하나 이 호수에서 낚시한 물고기는 먹을 수 있다.

언덕 뒤, 호수의 동쪽은 땅은 물을 주지 않기에 땅이 메말랐다.

 

 

캠프장에서 아침 8시에 집합을... 집 나오면 고생!

이곳을 지날적에는 언제나 조심스럽게 방해하지 않도록 지난다.

고인 물이 개구리밥(부평초)으로 다 덮였는데도 Common Moorhen, Great egret, 오리 등이 먹이를 찾는다.

영리한 오리, 먹이를 구하기 위해 머리를 다 담그지 않고 부리 만 조금 넣는다.

우는 소리와 모양새 그리고 하는 짓이 집에서 기르는 닭과 비슷하다.

이 웅덩이에서 거북들과도 잘 지내는데 개구리밥이 문제인지 요사이 거북들이가 안 보인다.

The common moorhen lives around well-vegetated marshes, ponds, canals and other wetlands. The species is not found in the polar regions or many tropical rainforests. Elsewhere it is likely the most common rail species, except for the Eurasian coot in some regions.

Blue Jay 알인데 뭔 일인지 에미가 찾아오질 않기에 Park Ranger가 알을 거두어 간다.

 

새집 통에 들어있던 것. 새들이 지난 봄에 지어서 쓴 집은 꺼내어 버리고...

 

제비집(Tree Swallow Nest Box)인데 매년 이른 봄에 공원에 있는 나무 곳곳에 걸어준다. 

제비가 알을 낳고 부화 시켜서 새끼들을 길렀고 이제 그 새끼들이 다 자라서 날아갔기에

 Park Ranger가 제비집을 거두어 들인다. 내년 봄에 다시 나무에 달아주기 위해 보관한다.

내가 잠시 쉬어가는 곳으로 난 이곳을 겟세마네동산이라고 부른다.^^

 올리브열매의 모양이 나무 마다 좀 다르다.

 

 

후추나무

 

 

California Pepper Tree(후주나무) 밑에서 노는 거위들.

후추나무의 축축 늘어진 가지와 가렵한 이파리는 버드나무 흡사하다.

사막성 기후인 Southern California에서 잘 자라고 시사철 푸른잎이 푸르러서 가로수로도 쓰인다.

 

 나를 보더니 혹 먹이를 주려나 하고 달려든다. 어느 동물에게든지 먹이를 주는 것을 금지한다.

 

 

후추(California Pepper Tree Fruit) - 포도송이 처럼 매달리고 열매의 크기는 팥알 만 하다.
