내가 간 날(9/11) 사진을 찍으려는 곳에 바람이 너무 거세게 불어서 돛을 미리 내리고 배가 들어와서

Bill of Rights

Bill of Rights was launched in 1971 at the Harvey Gamage yard in Bristol Maine. Captain Joe Davis commissioned her to be a sailing vessel with the qualities of speed, the grace of sail, lasting strength to sail into the future. In 2019, the Bill of Rights was designated the official tall ship of the City of Chula Vista. A 136-foot two-masted gaff rigged schooner, clipper-bowed, long and lean in the sheer, she represents a reminder of a time, long gone now, that bequeathed an aura of romance and adventure to today. After launch, the Bill of Rights spent years chartering the New England waters. In 1986, the Bill of Rights changed ownership and was fitted with an engine and extensive below deck modifications to accommodate the engine room and additional berths. Moving to the West Coast, she has successfully provided an amazing learning environment for sail training programs from San Diego Harbor to the Channel Islands. Over the past decades she has changed the lives of thousands of young students and program participants.
Today, the Bill of Rights is berthed at the excursion dock in the Chula Vista Harbor. Surrounded by a national marine reserve and at home in the southern San Diego bay, the schooner is available for on-the-water educational camps, team building programs, educational tours and maritime and tall ship events. She is also available for day cruises and overnight life changing adventures. We encourage all to Sail the Dream.
Bill of Rights - Tall Ships America
Exy Johnson https://www.tallshipsamerica.org/vessels/exy-johnson/
The Los Angeles Maritime Institute launched the twin brigantines Exy Johnson and Irving Johnson in 2002 for the TopSail Youth Program. With ships named in honor of sail training pioneers and seven-time circumnavigators with youth crew aboard their three ships named Yankee, TopSail recognizes that the shipboard environment is challenging, yet nurturing – encouraging exploration and self-reliance. TopSail is notably effective with youth who are not yet coping well with the demands of society and are at risk of dropping out of school and giving up. With the premise that ‘school is where the kids are…’ TopSail youth engage in building cooperation, courage, confidence and character in the real-world classroom of the sea. LAMI is a volunteer-driven, youth-focused, educational ‘family’ organization. We welcome the skills and enthusiasm of people of all ages and all walks of life to sail with youth, maintain the tall ships, and be involved in many other ways. Visiting tall ships are always welcome to grace LAMI’s berths in the Port of Los Angeles.
