| So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves ... Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image.” - Genesis 1:21,26 |
Microbes from Mars fell on the very early Earth ... , and the offspring of those microbes are still here-and they are us.” That’s how one astronomer speculated about how life originated on Mars and then came to Earth.
Some men and women of science are looking to outer space for the origins of life on earth, not believing the Bible’s explanation that God placed mankind, animals, and plant life on earth through special creation. But how did that supposed microbial life start on a hostile planet? The bigger question is this: Why is it so difficult to accept that the earth, uniquely and singularly fitted for life to exist, is where God created and placed living creatures?
As humans struggle to accept a miraculous beginning of life from the breath of God (Gen. 2:7), they choose to trust a miracle of a far different sort.the miracle of life originating from no first cause at all. Perhaps they could follow the advice Job received: “Listen to this, O Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God” (Job 37:14). And maybe they should try to answer God’s question: “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” (38:4).
Praise God for creating such a wonderful place for us to live! We stand in awe of His marvelous creation. - Dave Branon |

Job 38:4-18
[4] "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
[5] Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
[6] To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
[7] When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
[8] "Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
[9] When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band;
[10] When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;
[11] When I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!'
[12] "Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place,
[13] That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?
[14] It takes on form like clay under a seal, And stands out like a garment.
[15] From the wicked their light is withheld, And the upraised arm is broken.
[16] "Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?
[17] Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?

| 하나님이 큰 바다 짐승들과...움직이는 모든 생물을 창조하시니...하나님이 이르시되 우리의 형상을 따라...우리가 사람을 만들고 - 창세기 1:21,26 |
“화성으로부터 미생물들이 고대의 지구위로 떨어졌다..그 미생물들이 번식하여 아직 여기에 생존하고 있는데 그 자손들이 바로 우리다.” 이것은 생명이 화성에서 기원하여 지구로 왔다고 추정하는 한 천문학자의 견해입니다.
어떤 과학자들은 하나님께서 특별한 창조를 통해 이 세상에 인류와 동식물들이 있게 하셨다는 성경의 설명을 믿지 않고, 우주 외계에서 지구상의 생명의 근원을 찾고 있습니다. 하지만 환경이 아주 다른 행성에서 그 가상의 미생물들이 어떻게 생겨날 수 있었을까요? 더 큰 의문이 또 있습니다. 생명체가 존재할 수 있는 유일한 곳인 지구가 바로 하나님께서 생물들을 창조하시고 살아가도록 하신 곳이라는 사실을 왜 그렇게도 받아들이기가 힘들까요?
사람들이 하나님의 생기(창 2:7)로부터 생명이 시작되었다는 기적 같은 이 사실을 받아들이기 힘들어지자, 그들은 아무런 원인도 없는 것으로부터 생명이 시작되었다고 하는 전혀 다른 종류의 기적을 믿게 되었습니다. 어쩌면 그들은 “욥이여 이것을 듣고 가만히 서서 하나님의 오묘한 일을 깨달으라”(욥 37:14)라는 욥이 받은 충고를 따르든지, 또는 “내가 땅의 기초를 놓을 때에 네가 어디 있었느냐”(38:4)라고 하시는 하나님의 질문에 대답해보아야 할 것입니다.
이렇게 놀라운 곳을 만드셔서 우리로 살게 하신 하나님을 찬미하십시오! 하나님의 놀라운 창조를 경외합니다. |
욥기 38:4-18
[4] 내가 땅의 기초를 놓을 때에 네가 어디 있었느냐 네가 깨달아 알았거든 말할지니라
[5] 누가 그 도량을 정하였었는지 누가 그 준승을 그 위에 띄웠었는지 네가 아느냐
[6] 그 주초는 무엇 위에 세웠으며 그 모퉁이 돌은 누가 놓았었느냐
[7] 그 때에 새벽 별들이 함께 노래하며 하나님의 아들들이 다 기쁘게 소리하였었느니라
[8] 바닷물이 태에서 나옴 같이 넘쳐 흐를 때에 문으로 그것을 막은 자가 누구냐
[9] 그 때에 내가 구름으로 그 의복을 만들고 흑암으로 그 강보를 만들고
[10] 계한을 정하여 문과 빗장을 베풀고
[11] 이르기를 네가 여기까지 오고 넘어가지 못하리니 네 교만한 물결이 여기 그칠지니라 하였었노라
[12] 네가 나던 날부터 아침을 명하였었느냐 새벽으로 그 처소를 알게 하여
[13] 그것으로 땅끝에 비취게 하고 악인을 그 가운데서 구축한 일이 있었느냐
