Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. — 2 Corinthians 4:10
Years ago I lost my job in my chosen profession due to circumstances beyond my control. So I took on two lesser-paying jobs in order to try to make ends meet. Yet it still was very difficult to earn enough to pay my monthly expenses.
Then I reconnected with Joel and Dave, two friends from my past. Joel had become the pastor of a growing church in the suburbs. Dave had become an overseas missionary, but he was visiting in the US at the time. Both of them, recognizing my predicament, gave me money to help pay the rent. I was deeply moved. As I thought of my friends’ actions, I said to myself: “I have just seen Jesus Christ!”
Just as I saw Jesus in my friends, sometimes others can see Him in us. Paul speaks of “Christ in you, the hope of glory”(Col.1:27). He confessed: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me”(Gal.2:20). And he also understood that different circumstances can be opportunities for “the life of Jesus [to] be manifested in our body”(2 Cor.4:10).

2 Corinthians 4:1-10
[1] Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. [2] But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. [3] But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, [4] whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. [5] For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. [6] For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. [8] We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; [9] persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-- [10] always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

방금 예수님을 보았다
[ 고린도후서 4:1 - 4:10 ] - 찬송가311장
우리가 항상 예수의 죽음을 몸에 짊어짐은 예수의 생명이 또한 우리 몸에 나타나게 하려 함이라 - 고린도후서 4:10
오래 전, 나로서는 어쩔 수 없는 상황 때문에 나는 내가 선택했던 전문직을 잃게 되었습니다. 그래서 생계유지를 위해 월급이 적은 두 가지 직업을 가져야 했습니다. 그렇게 해도 매달 드는 생활비를 충당하기가 무척 힘이 들었습니다.
그러던 중 옛 친구인 조엘과 데이브를 다시 만나게 되었습니다. 조엘은 교외 지역에서 부흥하고 있는 교회의 목사가 되어 있었습니다. 데이브는 해외 선교사가 되었는데 마침 미국에 들어와 있는 중이었습니다. 둘 다 나의 어려운 상황을 알고는 월세를 내는데 보태라고 돈을 주었습니다. 나는 정말 감동받았습니다. 내 친구들의 행동을 보면서 나는 “지금 예수 그리스도를 보았다!”라고 생각했습니다.
내가 나의 친구들에게서 예수님을 보았듯이 다른 사람들도 우리에게서 그 분을 볼 수 있습니다. 바울은 “너희 안에 계신 그리스도”가 “곧 영광의 소망”이라고 말합니다(골 1:27). 그는 “내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라”(갈 2:20)라고 고백합니다. 그는 또한 다른 여러 가지 상황들이 “예수의 생명이 우리 몸에 나타나는”(고후 4:10) 기회가 될 수 있다는 것을 이해하고 있었습니다.
육체적으로 힘들거나 경제적으로 어려워서 고생하는 사람을 알고 있습니까? 당신 안에 내재하시는 그리스도께서 당신을 통해 그 사람의 필요를 충족시켜줌으로써 그리스도의 사랑이 표현되도록 하지 않겠습니까?
오늘 내가 좋은 일을 할 수만 있다면 나의 말이 도움이 될 수만 있다면 나의 행동이 주님의 사랑을 표현할 수만 있다면사랑하는 주님, 어떻게 하면 되는지 알려주소서
참 사랑이란 보답이 없더라도 예수님을 위해 다른 사람들을 돕는 것이다.
고린도후서 4:1-10
[1] 그러므로 우리가 이 직분을 받아 긍휼하심을 입은 대로 낙심하지 아니하고 [2] 이에 숨은 부끄러움의 일을 버리고 속임으로 행하지 아니하며 하나님의 말씀을 혼잡하게 하지 아니하고 오직 진리를 나타냄으로 하나님 앞에서 각 사람의 양심에 대하여 스스로 추천하노라 [3] 만일 우리의 복음이 가리었으면 망하는 자들에게 가리어진 것이라 [4] 그 중에 이 세상의 신이 믿지 아니하는 자들의 마음을 혼미하게 하여 그리스도의 영광의 복음의 광채가 비치지 못하게 함이니 그리스도는 하나님의 형상이니라 [5] 우리가 우리를 전파하는 것이 아니라 오직 그리스도 예수의 주 되신 것과 또 예수를 위하여 우리가 너희의 종 된 것을 전파함이라 [6] 어두운 데에 빛이 비치라 말씀하셨던 그 하나님께서 예수 그리스도의 얼굴에 있는 하나님의 영광을 아는 빛을 우리 마음에 비추셨느니라 [7] 우리가 이 보배를 질그릇에 가졌으니 이는 심히 큰 능력은 하나님께 있고 우리에게 있지 아니함을 알게 하려 함이라 [8] 우리가 사방으로 우겨쌈을 당하여도 싸이지 아니하며 답답한 일을 당하여도 낙심하지 아니하며 [9] 박해를 받아도 버린 바 되지 아니하며 거꾸러뜨림을 당하여도 망하지 아니하고 [10] 우리가 항상 예수의 죽음을 몸에 짊어짐은 예수의 생명이 또한 우리 몸에 나타나게 하려 함이라
