The family members who founded Hobby Lobby craft stores are born-again believers. The president, Steve Green, is passionate about the Scriptures and plans to establish a Bible museum that will display rare books and manuscripts from around the world. He said, “We are interested in ... encouraging people to consider what [the Bible] has to say ... The goal is to create a museum around the story of the Bible. No book has been persecuted as much or loved as much. Its incredible story needs to be told.”
The Bible has been preserved through time in remarkable ways, and the museum will tell that story. The oldest copies we have of the New Testament are more numerous and closer to the date of the eyewitness events recorded than any other ancient document from that time. Their reports on Christ are more reliable than anything we know about Socrates or Caesar. It should not surprise us that God is behind the scenes using people and circumstances to pass on His inspired text of redemption. Isaiah eloquently proclaimed: “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever”(Isa.40:8).
As we read the Bible with an open heart, we long to share its message. It’s God’s lasting letter to all.

Isaiah 40:1-8
[1] Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. [2] Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. [3] A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. [4] Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. [5] And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." [6] A voice says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. [7] The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. 영원한 편지

풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드나 우리 하나님의 말씀은 영원히 서리라 - 이사야 40:8
하비 라비 공예품 상점을 설립한 가족의 구성원들은 모두 거듭난 신자들입니다. 회장인 스티브 그린은 성경에 아주 열정적이어서 성경박물관을 세워 온 세계로부터 희귀한 책들과 성경 사본들을 모아 전시할 계획을 가지고 있습니다. 그는 다음과 같이 말했습니다. “우리의 관심은 성경이 무엇을 말하고 있는지 숙고하는 사람들을 격려하는 데 있습니다.…우리의 목표는 성경 이야기를 중심으로 한 박물관을 만드는 것입니다. 성경만큼 박해를 많이 받고 또한 많이 사랑을 받은 책은 없습니다. 성경에 관련된 믿을 수 없을 정도로 놀라운 이야기는 꼭 전해져야 합니다.”
성경은 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 놀라운 방법으로 보존되어 왔으며, 이 박물관은 그 이야기를 전하게 될 것입니다. 신약성경의 가장 오래된 사본들은 비슷한 시대의 다른 고대 문서에 비해 숫자적으로도 더 많을 뿐만 아니라, 기록된 것도 실제 목격한 날짜에 더 가깝습니다. 그리스도에 관한 이런 기록은 소크라테스나 시저에 대해 우리가 알고 있는 어떤 사실보다 더 믿을 만합니다. 이것은 하나님이 사람들과 환경을 사용하여 그분의 영감을 받은 구원에 대한 책을 후세에 전하도록 하신 것이기 때문에 그리 놀라운 일이 아닙니다. 이사야는 그것을 웅변적으로 이렇게 선포하였습니다. “풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드나 우리 하나님의 말씀은 영원히 서리라”(사 40:8).
마음을 열고 성경을 읽을 때 우리는 성경의 메시지를 함께 나누고 싶은 마음이 생깁니다. 성경은 우리 모두에게 주신 하나님의 영원한 편지입니다.
세상의 모든 것이 사라지더라도 성경은 그 자리에 영원히 서 있으리라 영감으로 쓰인 성경 그 모든 가르침에 나는 순종하리라
