McCasland | | | Numbered Days | | [ Psalms 90:7 - 90:17 ] - hymn379 | | | Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. — Psalm 90:12 | In the aftermath of a devastating tornado, a man stood outside what was left of his home. Scattered somewhere among the rubble inside were his wife’s jewelry and his own valuable collectibles. But the man had no intention of going inside the unstable house to search for them. “It’s not worth dying for,” he said.
In times of crisis, our sense of what is truly important in life often comes into clearer focus.
In Psalm 90, “A Prayer of Moses,” this man of God looks at life from beginning to end. In light of the brevity of life (vv.4-6) and the realization of God’s righteous anger (vv.7-11), Moses makes a plea to God for understanding: “Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should”(v.12 tlb).
Moses continues this psalm with an appeal to God’s love: “Have compassion on Your servants. Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy”(vv.13-14). He concludes with a prayer for the future: “Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us” (v.17).
Our numbered days and the brevity of life call us to embrace God’s eternal love and, like Moses, to focus on the most important things. |
Psalm 90:7-17
[7] We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation.
[8] You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.
[9] All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan.
[10] The length of our days is seventy years--or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
[11] Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you.
[12] Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
[13] Relent, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants.
[14] Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
[15] Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.
[16] May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children.
[17] May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us--yes, establish the work of our hands. |
| | 2013년 02월 11일 (월) | | | 얼마 남지 않은 날들 | | [ 시편 90:7 - 90:17 ] - 찬송가 379장 | | | 우리에게 우리 날 계수함을 가르치사 지혜의 마음을 얻게 하소서 - 시편 90:12 | 엄청난 회오리바람이 지나간 후, 한 사람이 부서진 자기 집 앞에 서 있었습니다. 내부 잔해들 사이 어딘가에 아내의 보석과 그가 수집한 귀중품이 흩어져 있었습니다. 그러나 그는 언제 무너질지 모르는 그 집에 들어가 그것들을 되찾을 생각은 전혀 없었습니다. “이것은 생명을 걸 가치가 있는 것이 아니야.”라고 그는 말했습니다.
우리의 삶에서 무엇이 정말 중요한가 하는 판단력은 위기의 순간이 닥치면 더욱 분명해집니다.
“모세의 기도”라 일컬어지는 시편 90편에서 이 하나님의 사람은 인생을 처음부터 끝까지 보고 있습니다. 인생의 짧음과(4-6절) 하나님의 의로운 분노를 알아차린(7-11절) 모세는 하나님께 깨달음을 달라고 탄원합니다. “우리에게 우리 날 계수함을 가르치사 지혜의 마음을 얻게 하소서”(12절).
모세는 이 시편에서 계속 하나님의 사랑에 호소합니다. “주의 종들을 불쌍히 여기소서 아침에 주의 인자하심이 우리를 만족하게 하사”(13-14절). 그리고 미래를 위한 기도로 결론을 내립니다. “주 우리 하나님의 은총을 우리에게 내리게 하사 우리의 손이 행한 일을 우리에게 견고하게 하소서”(17절).
얼마 남지 않은 우리의 짧은 인생은 우리에게 하나님의 영원한 사랑을 받아들이고, 모세처럼 가장 중요한 일에 초점을 맞출 것을 요구합니다. |

[7] 우리는 주의 노에 소멸되며 주의 분내심에 놀라나이다
[8] 주께서 우리의 죄악을 주의 앞에 놓으시며 우리의 은밀한 죄를 주의 얼굴 빛 가운데에 두셨사오니
[9] 우리의 모든 날이 주의 분노 중에 지나가며 우리의 평생이 순식간에 다하였나이다
[10] 우리의 연수가 칠십이요 강건하면 팔십이라도 그 연수의 자랑은 수고와 슬픔뿐이요 신속히 가니 우리가 날아가나이다
[11] 누가 주의 노여움의 능력을 알며 누가 주의 진노의 두려움을 알리이까
