| February 13, 2013 — by Julie Ackerman Link | | | A Small Sacrifice | | [ Mark 10:17 - 10:27 ] - hymn311 | | | With God all things are possible. — Mark 10:27 | As we anticipate the coming celebration of Easter, I begin thinking about the sacrifice Jesus made so that I could be reconciled to God. To help me focus on all that He gave up for me, I make a small sacrifice of my own. When I fast from something I normally enjoy, every craving for that food or drink or pastime reminds me of how much more Jesus gave up for me.
Because I want to be successful, I tend to give up something that isn’t a big temptation for me. Yet even then I fail. My inability to be perfect in such a small thing reminds me of why Easter is so important. If we could be perfect, Jesus would not have had to die.
The rich young man whom Jesus encountered along a Judean road was trying to earn eternal life by being good. But Jesus, knowing the man could never be good enough, said, “With men [salvation] is impossible, but not with God” (Mark 10:27).
Although giving up something does not make anyone good, it does remind us that no one is good except God (v.18). And that’s important to remember, for it is the sacrifice of a good and perfect God that makes our salvation possible. |

Mark 10:17-27
[17] As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
[18] "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.
[19] You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'"
[20] "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy."
[21] Jesus looked at him and loved him. one thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
[22] At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
[23] Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"
[24] The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
[25] It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
[26] The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
[27] Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." |
| | 2013년 02월 13일 (수) | | | 작은 희생 | | [ 마가복음 10:17 - 10:27 ] - 찬송가 311장 | | | 하나님으로는 다 하실 수 있느니라 - 마가복음 10:27 | 다가오는 부활절을 기다리면서 나는 내가 하나님과 화목하게 되도록 예수님께서 치르셨던 희생을 생각해봅니다. 주님께서 나를 위해 포기하신 모든 것에 집중하기 위해 나 스스로 작은 희생을 시도해보았습니다. 내가 평소에 즐기던 것들을 금하자, 음식이나 음료수, 그리고 오락 등 하나하나 갈망하는 마음이 생기는 것을 보니 예수님께서 나를 위해 얼마나 많은 것을 포기하셨을까 하는 생각이 듭니다.
그래도 희생을 치르는 일을 성공적으로 해보고 싶어, 나는 내게 크게 유혹이 되지 않는 것을 포기하려고 해봅니다. 하지만 그래도 나는 실패하고 맙니다. 그토록 작은 것도 제대로 포기 못하는 나의 무능력은 부활절이 왜 그토록 중요한지를 깨닫게 해줍니다. 만일 우리가 완전하다면, 예수님이 돌아가실 필요가 없었을 것입니다.
예수님이 유다 지방을 지나시다가 만났던 한 부유한 청년은 선한 삶을 통해 영생을 얻으려고 애쓰고 있었습니다. 그러나 예수님은 사람이 온전하게 선해짐으로써 구원에 이를 수 없다는 것을 아시고, “사람으로는 할 수 없으되…하나님으로는 다 하실 수 있느니라”(막 10:27)라고 말씀하셨습니다.
무언가를 포기한다고 해서 사람이 선해지는 것은 아니지만, 그렇게 할 때 오직 하나님 한 분만이 선하시다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다(18절). 따라서 우리의 구원이 가능해진 것은 선하시고 완전하신 하나님의 희생 때문이라는 것을 기억하는 것이 중요합니다. |

마가복음 10:17-27
[17] 예수께서 길에 나가실새 한 사람이 달려와서 꿇어 앉아 묻자오되 선한 선생님이여 내가 무엇을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까
[18] 예수께서 이르시되 네가 어찌하여 나를 선하다 일컫느냐 하나님 한 분 외에는 선한 이가 없느니라
[19] 네가 계명을 아나니 살인하지 말라, 간음하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 거짓 증언 하지 말라, 속여 빼앗지 말라, 네 부모를 공경하라 하였느니라
[20] 그가 여짜오되 선생님이여 이것은 내가 어려서부터 다 지켰나이다
[21] 예수께서 그를 보시고 사랑하사 이르시되 네게 아직도 한 가지 부족한 것이 있으니 가서 네게 있는 것을 다 팔아 가난한 자들에게 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 따르라 하시니
[22] 그 사람은 재물이 많은 고로 이 말씀으로 인하여 슬픈 기색을 띠고 근심하며 가니라
[23] 예수께서 둘러 보시고 제자들에게 이르시되 재물이 있는 자는 하나님의 나라에 들어가기가 심히 어렵도다 하시니
[24] 제자들이 그 말씀에 놀라는지라 예수께서 다시 대답하여 이르시되 얘들아 하나님의 나라에 들어가기가 얼마나 어려운지
[25] 낙타가 바늘귀로 나가는 것이 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 쉬우니라 하시니
[26] 제자들이 매우 놀라 서로 말하되 그런즉 누가 구원을 얻을 수 있는가 하니
[27] 예수께서 그들을 보시며 이르시되 사람으로는 할 수 없으되 하나님으로는 그렇지 아니하니 하나님으로서는 다 하실 수 있느니라 |
