2016 Rose Parade Theme - "Find Your Adventure!"

Find Your Adventure is a theme that has grown out of a unique partnership between the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the U.S. National Park Service. The 2016 Rose Parade will help shine light on the centennial celebration of our nation’s national parks.

Both the Tournament of Roses and the National Park Service aim to preserve history, connect people through real-life experiences and engage the public in new adventures. As proponents of the American spirit, we encourage you to find beauty in the landscape that builds the backdrop of your lives. From coast-to-coast, we will add your stories of adventure to our collection while protecting our unique heritage and looking to the future.

Every person’s adventure is different – you may find yours at the top of a mountain while mine is in my backyard; your adventure may be extraordinary while mine is familiar. Our hope for the New Year is that however you define it, you will find your adventure and enrich your life.

올해(2016년)의 새해 아침에도 Pasadena의 콜로라도 블르버드에서는 어김없이 로즈 퍼레이드로 새해 첫 날을 열었다.  제127회째 열린 Rose Parade의 테마(theme)는 "당신의 모험을 찾아라!( Find Your Adventure!)" 이고 그랜드마샬로 Ken Burns(1953~ )가 선정됐다.  Ken Burns는 다큐멘터리 필름메이커로 크게 공헌했고 2개의 아카데미상(Academy Awards)과 여러 개의 에미상(Emmy Award)을 받았고 오늘 행진을 이끌어간다. 아래 그의 사진을 사진을 올렸다.   

The Rose Parade will start at 8:00am PST. Each New Year's Day, the world focuses its attention on Pasadena, California, USA, home of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game. It's a celebration more than a century old – a festival of flowers, music and sports unequaled anywhere else in the world. It's America's New Year Celebration, a greeting to the world on the first day of the year, and a salute to the community spirit and love of pageantry that have thrived in Pasadena for more than 100 years.

An event as large as the Tournament of Roses requires about 80,000 hours of combined manpower each year. That manpower is supplied by 935 members of the non-profit Tournament of Roses Association, a volunteer organization dedicated to presenting an internationally-recognized New Year’s celebration. Each volunteer is assigned to one of 31 committees, with responsibilities ranging from selecting parade participants to directing visitors on New Year's Day, to hosting the press headquarters for media coverage of the Rose Bowl Game, to giving presentations about the Tournament to community groups. His most widely known documentaries are The Civil War (1990), Baseball(1994), Jazz (2001), The War (2007), The National Parks: America's Best Idea (2009), Prohibition (2011), The Central Park Five (2012), and The Roosevelts (2014). Also widely known is his role as executive producer of The West (1996, directed byStephen Ives), and Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies (2015, directed by Barak Goodman).

Burns's documentaries have been nominated for two Academy Awards and have won Emmy Awards, among other honors. His latest assignment is to be the grand marshal of the 2016 Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2016 in Pasadena, California.
