계곡의 폭은 1 mile(1.6 km)이고 길이는 7.5 miles (12 km)이다.
왼편에 El Captain(캡튼바위: 솟아오른 화강암 바위로 세계에서 제일 큼)이 보이고
오른 쪽 맨 끝에 The Half Dome, 떨어져 나간 반쪽을 아직도 못 찾고 있는 '더 하프 돔'이 희미하게 보인다.
Yosemite National Park(요세미티 국립공원)을 방문한다. 알다시피, 요세미티 국립공원은 California주에 있고 1984년에 유네스코 세계유산으로 지정되었다. Tunnel View에서 바라보는 Yosemite Valley는 말로 표현하기 어렵다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 국립공원의 총 면적은 3,081km²이
고 연간 4백만 명의 방문자가 있다. 나는 특정한 지역에 집중하지않고 가벼운 하이킹을 먼저 하고 점심식사를 하고 나서 2시간 정도 소요되는 뚜껑이 없는 tram을 타고 'Valley Floor Tour'를 한다. 평평한 계곡을 지나며
본대로 느낀대로 사진기에 담는다. 폭포들는 이름을 알아볼 수 없을 정도로 물이 말랐는데 보통 여름철에 있는 현상이며 봄철에는 눈이 녹아 내리는 물이 많아 폭포수들이 활기차다. 영국 BBC 방송국에서 죽기 전에 꼭 가봐야 할 곳 50 곳 중에서 23위를 기록하기도 했다. 사계절이 아름다운 곳이라 꽃이 피어도 좋고 낙엽이 져도 좋고 눈이 와도 좋은 요세미티이니 사진에서 아름다움을 찾아가시오.

나도 똑같은 open-air tram tour를 했다.
시간이 가장 짧고(2 시간) 저렴한 걸로 선택했는데
설명까지 해주며 구경시켜주니 호강스럽기 그지없다.

신부의 면사포를 연상시키는 폭포 지금 떨어지는 물이 약해서 볼 수가 없다.
물이 많이 떨어지고 바람이 불면 영락없이 눈부시게 희고 길다란 면사포로 보인다.

다람쥐가 고양이로 변했나 고양이가 다람쥐로 변했나?ㅎ
물없는 폭포에 서러운 눈물 자국 뿐이니 내 무슨 말을 할꼬. 그래도 사진을 찍는다.
멀리서 보니 영락없는 사슴 뿔이라.
너희들 이름은 '사랑 사랑 다람쥐'

우리는 싸가지고 간 도시락이 무겁고 귀찮았다. 저 위에서 걷다가 한 park ranger에게 어디서 도시락을
먹을 수 있느냐고 물었더니 아무데서나 먹어도 된다고 해서 바로 그 길가에 앉아서 먹어버렸는데...ㅎㅎ
자이언트 세콰이어 Giant Sequioias
Dogwood: 내가 좋아하는 나무인데 봄에 오면 꽃이 위를 향해서 고고하게 피어난다.
오른쪽 발에 꼬리표를 단 걸 보니 관찰 대상감인데 정확한 이름을 모르겠고 짐작으로는 fan-tailed raven이다.
옷차림을 보니 궁금하나 예의상 그냥 지나친다. Amish들 같기도 하다.

주위 나무들이 워낙 크니 커다란 텐트가 소꼽장난을 하는 텐트처럼 작게 보인다.
El Capitan
El Capitan은 땅 위로 솟아있는 화강암으로는 세계에서 가장 큰 화강암이다.
El Capitan (Spanish for The Captain, The Chief) is a vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park,
located on the north side of Yosemite Valley, near its western end. The granite monolith extends
about 3,000 feet (900 m) from base to summit along its tallest face and is one of the world's
favorite challenges for rock climbers and BASE jumpers.
The Yosemite Valley Chapel was built in the Yosemite Valley of California in 1879.
It is the oldest standing structure in Yosemite National Park.

풀에 가려져서 안 보이는데 저 여인은 잘 놓여진 자전거 길을 따라가고 있다.

요세미티 국립공원을 나와서 서쪽으로 와만한 산길을 내려가면서 본 풍광이다.
이제 Modesto시를 지나 San Mateo Bridge를 건너서 도시의 아름다움을 보러 San Francisco로 간다.
Yosemite Valley (/joʊˈsɛmᵻtiː/ yoh-sem-i-tee) is a glacial valley in Yosemite National Park in the western Sierra Nevadamountains of Northern California. The valley is about 8 miles (13 km) long and up to a mile deep, surrounded by highgranite summits such as Half Dome and El Capitan, and densely forested with pines. The valley is drained by theMerced River and a multitude of streams and waterfalls including Tenaya, Illilouette, Yosemite and Bridalveil Creeks. Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in North America, and is a big attraction especially in the spring when the water flow is at its peak. The valley is renowned for its natural beauty, and is widely regarded as the centerpiece of Yosemite National Park, attracting visitors from around the world.
The Valley is the main attraction in the park for the majority of visitors, and a bustling hub of activity during "tourist season" in the summer months. on July 2, 2011 there was a record 20,851 visitors to the valley.
Most visitors enter the valley from roads to the west and pass through the famous Tunnel View entrance. Visitor facilities are located in the center of the valley. There are both hiking trail loops that stay within the valley andtrailheads that lead to higher elevations, all of which afford glimpses of the park's many scenic wonders.
