We Won’t Break 우리는 부러지지 않는다 [ Matthew 6:25 - 6:34 ] - hymn 382 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:27 As a native Californian and lover of all things sunny, I shy away from all things cold. I do, however, enjoy beautiful photos of snow. So I couldn’t help but smile when my friend from Illinois shared a winter picture of a sapling outside her window. Admiration turned to sadness when I noticed its bare, knotted branches bowing under the heavy fringe of sparkling icicles. How long could those bending boughs endure before breaking under their icy burdens? The heaviness threatening to crack the tree’s limbs reminded me of my shoulders, hunched beneath the weight of worries. After Jesus affirms that the greatest treasures are not earthly or temporary, He encourages us to release our anxious thoughts. The Creator and Sustainer of the universe loves and provides for His children, so we don’t have to waste our precious time worrying. God knows our needs and will care for us(Matthew 6:19–32). He also knows we’ll be tempted to succumb to worry. He tells us to come to Him first, trust His presence and provision in the present, and live by faith one day at a time(vv. 33–34). In this life, we’ll face overwhelming troubles and uncertainties that can make our shoulders droop. We may temporarily bend under the weight of worrying. But when we trust God, we won’t break. Xochitl Dixon [ 마태복음 6:25 - 6:34 ] - 찬송가 382 장 너희 중에 누가 염려함으로 그 키를 한 자나 더 할 수 있느냐 마태복음 6:27 캘리포니아가 고향인 나는 화창한 광경은 좋아하지만 차가운 것은 별로 좋아하지 않습니다. 그러나 사진 속 아름다운 눈 풍경은 참 좋습니다. 그래서 일리노이의 한 친구가 건네준 겨울에 찍은 자기 집 창밖의 어린 나무 사진을 보고는 환하게 웃었습니다. 그러나 마디진 앙상한 가지들이 주렁주렁 매달린 반짝이는 고드름의 무게로 처져있는 모습을 보며 즐겁던 마음이 서글퍼졌습니다. 얼음의 무게로 휜 가지들이 부러지지 않고 얼마나 버틸 수 있을까? 무게 때문에 금방이라도 부러질 것 같은 가지들을 보면서 나는 무거운 걱정으로 처져있는 나의 어깨가 생각났습니다. 예수님은 가장 귀한 보화는 이 땅의 것도 아니고 잠시 있다 사라지는 것도 아니라고 분명히 말씀하시고 우리에게 근심 걱정을 내려놓으라고 격려하십니다. 우주를 창조하고 운행하시는 분이 자신의 자녀들을 사랑하고 부양하시는데 자녀인 우리가 소중한 시간을 걱정으로 허비할 필요가 없는 것입니다. 하나님이 우리의 필요를 아시고 보살펴 주십니다(마 6:19-32). 하나님은 또한 우리가 쉽게 걱정하게 되는 것을 아십니다. 하나님은 우리에게 먼저 그에게 나아와 지금 이 시간 그가 곁에 계셔서 보살펴 주신다는 것을 믿고 하루하루를 믿음으로 살라고 말씀하십니다(33-34절). 우리는 세상에 살면서 감당하기 어려운 문제나 불확실한 상황들을 만나 어깨가 쳐질 때가 있을 것입니다. 무거운 걱정으로 잠시 휘어질 수는 있지만 하나님을 믿을 때 우리는 부러지지 않습니다.

• Thanks for assuring us that we never have to worry, Lord, because You never fail to meet our deepest needs. Worry won’t break us when we trust the Giver of all good things. 25. "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28. "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31. So do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' 32. For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. • 주님, 주께서 우리에게 가장 필요한 것들을 반드시 주시기에 결코 걱정할 필요가 없다는 확신을 주시니 감사합니다. 모든 선한 것을 주시는 주님을 믿을 때 우리는 걱정으로 부러지지 않는다. 25. 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라 목숨이 음식보다 중하지 아니하며 몸이 의복보다 중하지 아니하냐 26. 공중의 새를 보라 심지도 않고 거두지도 않고 창고에 모아들이지도 아니하되 너희 하늘 아버지께서 기르시나니 너희는 이것들보다 귀하지 아니하냐 27. 너희 중에 누가 염려함으로 그 키를 한 자라도 더할 수 있겠느냐 28. 또 너희가 어찌 의복을 위하여 염려하느냐 들의 백합화가 어떻게 자라는가 생각하여 보라 수고도 아니하고 길쌈도 아니하느니라 29. 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니 솔로몬의 모든 영광으로도 입은 것이 이 꽃 하나만 같지 못하였느니라 30. 오늘 있다가 내일 아궁이에 던져지는 들풀도 하나님이 이렇게 입히시거든 하물며 너희일까보냐 믿음이 작은 자들아 31. 그러므로 염려하여 이르기를 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 무엇을 입을까 하지 말라 32. 이는 다 이방인들이 구하는 것이라 너희 하늘 아버지께서 이 모든 것이 너희에게 있어야 할 줄을 아시느니라 33. 그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라 34. 그러므로 내일 일을 위하여 염려하지 말라 내일 일은 내일이 염려할 것이요 한 날의 괴로움은 그 날로 족하니라

Insight: We see God’s loving care and provision for His people throughout the Bible. A quick look at the Psalms confirms it. In Psalm 23, we read: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (v. 4). And Psalm 55:22 tells us to “cast [our] cares on the Lord and he will sustain [us].” Likewise, Psalm 91 assures us that God is our refuge and even commands His angels to guard us (vv. 9–11). “He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care” (95:7).
