This bride's dance with her terminally ill father is giving us all the feels

Dying dad’s unforgettable dance with bride

Warning: This story may make you shed a tear or 500.

A video of the traditional father-daughter wedding-reception dance went viral on Facebook when it showed a bride dancing with her dad, who uses a wheelchair.

Mary Bourne (Roberts) Butts led her father, Jim Roberts, around the dance floor to Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" in a moving dance at her wedding in Point Clear, Alabama.

The song has special meaning to the two. According to AL.com, Butts danced around the kitchen to this song as a kid with her father, and they agreed that this would be the song they danced to at her future wedding.

That moment almost didn't seem like it could happen when her father was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer, in May 2017 and in hospice by mid-December 2018, right before his daughter's Dec. 29 wedding, according to Brides.com.

“We had always planned to use the song — we weren’t sure how he was going to even feel that day — we just knew that we were going to do it somehow,” the newlywed told Fox News

And Roberts was able to be a part of his daughter's special day. As the two took over the dance floor, they mouthed the words to the song and twirled around the room. Roberts was wiping away tears and so were wedding guests. Shoot, even we were wiping away tears.

As of this writing, the video had already been viewed over 400,000 times on Facebook and shared over 3,000 times.
