01 August Wed, 2012 But God [ Romans 5:8 - 5:11 ] - hymn458 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8 Howard Sugden, my pastor when I was in college, preached many memorable sermons. After all these years, the one titled “But God ...” still makes me stop whenever I come to those words in the Bible. Here are a few examples of verses that encourage me with the reminder of God’s righteous intervention in human affairs: “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to ... save many people alive”(Gen.50:20). “Their beauty shall be consumed in the grave .... But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave”(Ps.49:14-15). “My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”(Ps.73:26). “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”(Rom.5:7-8). “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard ... the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit”(1 Cor.2:9-10). Whenever you feel discouraged, look up some “but God” verses and be reassured of God’s involvement in the lives of those who love Him.     Creator of the universeWho reigns in awesome majesty:How can it be that You’re involvedWith such a one as me? — Sper God’s involvement in our lives should reassure us of His love. Romans 5:8-11 [8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. [10] For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. [11] And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

2012년 08월 01일 (수) 그러나 하나님은 [ 로마서 5:8 - 5:11 ] - 찬송가 458장 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라 - 로마서 5:8 내 대학시절 때 담임목사였던 하워드 서그든 목사는 기억에 남는 설교를 많이 했습니다. 그 중 “그러나 하나님은....”이라는 제목의 설교는 오랜 세월이 지났지만 지금도 성경에서 그 단어들을 접할 때마다 멈추어 생각하게 합니다. 여기에 사람들의 삶속에 의로운 개입을 하시는 하나님을 상기시켜 줌으로써 나를 격려해주는 구절들의 몇 가지 예가 있습니다. “당신들은 나를 해하려 하였으나 (그러나) 하나님은 그것을 선으로 바꾸사... 많은 백성의 생명을 구원하게 하시려 하셨나니”(창 50:20). “그들의 아름다움은 소멸하고... (그러나) 하나님은... 내 영혼을 스올의 권세에서 건져내시리로다”(시 49:14-15). “내 육체와 마음은 쇠약하나 (그러나) 하나님은 내 마음의 반석이시요 영원한 분깃이시라”(시 73:26). “의인을 위하여 죽는 자가 쉽지 않고 선인을 위하여 용감히 죽는 자가 혹 있거니와 (그러나) 하나님은 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라”(롬 5:7-8). “하나님이 자기를 사랑하는 자들을 위하여 예비하신 모든 것은 눈으로 보지 못하고 귀로 듣지 못하고...(그러나) 하나님이 성령으로 이것을 우리에게 보이셨으니”(고전 2:9-10). 살면서 낙심될 때마다 “그러나 하나님은”이라는 구절이 들어있는 성경구절들을 찾아보고, 하나님을 사랑하는 자들의 삶속에 하나님이 함께 하심을 다시 확인하십시오.     장엄한 위엄으로 다스리시는 우주의 창조주께서나 같은 사람의 삶속에 관여하고 계시다니이 얼마나 놀라운 일인가?   우리의 삶에 하나님께서 관여하심은 그분의 사랑을 재확인시켜 준다. 로마서 5:8-11 [8] 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라 [9] 그러면 이제 우리가 그의 피로 말미암아 의롭다 하심을 받았으니 더욱 그로 말미암아 진노하심에서 구원을 받을 것이니 [10] 곧 우리가 원수 되었을 때에 그의 아들의 죽으심으로 말미암아 하나님과 화목하게 되었은즉 화목하게 된 자로서는 더욱 그의 살아나심으로 말미암아 구원을 받을 것이니라 [11] 그뿐 아니라 이제 우리로 화목하게 하신 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님 안에서 또한 즐거워하느니라
