Hia From Duty To Delight [ Psalms 119:41 - 119:48 ] - hymn201 I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love. — Psalm 119:47 Because of my wife’s busy schedule, sometimes she can commit only a limited amount of time every week to each of our grandchildren. When possible, however, she will rearrange her schedule to spend more time with them—not out of duty, but because she loves them. When I see her with them, I understand what the word delight means. In Psalm 119, David tells of his “delight” in God’s Word. He uses the word delight eight times (vv.16,24, 35,47,70,77,92,174). He says: “I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your Word.... I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love” (vv.16,47). The psalmist’s words, “I will delight,” indicate that it is a deliberate act of his will. However, it is not a burden for him to delight in God’s Word because he loves it. David’s close relationship with God created in him a desire to know what his Beloved had to say. In the same way, for us to move from duty to delight in God’s Word, we need to strengthen our relationship with Him. When we remember how much He loves and cherishes us, we will respond with love and we will delight to spend time with Him. “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day” (v.97).     Then let me love my Bible moreAnd take a fresh delightBy day to read these wonders o’erAnd meditate by night. — Watts Whether morning, noon, or night, make God’s Word your delight. Psalm 119:41-48 [41] Let Your mercies come also to me, O LORD--Your salvation according to Your word. [42] So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, For I trust in Your word. [43] And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, For I have hoped in Your ordinances. [44] So shall I keep Your law continually, Forever and ever. [45] And I will walk at liberty, For I seek Your precepts. [46] I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, And will not be ashamed. [47] And I will delight myself in Your commandments, Which I love. [48] My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, Which I love, And I will meditate on Your statutes.

2012년 09월 16일 (주일) 책임에서 즐거움으로 [ 시편 119:41 - 119:48 ] - 찬송가 201장 내가 사랑하는 주의 계명들을 스스로 즐거워하며 - 시편 119:47 바쁜 일정 때문에 아내가 매주 손자손녀들과 함께 지낼 수 있는 시간은 많지 않습니다. 하지만 가능하기만 하다면 아내는 일정을 조정해서라도 더 많은 시간을 손자손녀들과 함께 보낼 것입니다. 이는 책임감 때문이 아니라 그들을 사랑하기 때문입니다. 아내가 그들과 같이 있는 것을 보면, 나는 즐거움이란 단어가 무엇을 의미하는지 이해할 수 있습니다. 시편 119편에서 다윗은 하나님 말씀 안에서 자신의 “즐거움”을 이야기합니다. 그는 즐거움이란 말을 여덟 번(16, 24, 35, 47, 70, 77, 92, 174절) 사용합니다. 그는 “주의 율례들을 즐거워하며 주의 말씀을 잊지 아니하리이다...내가 사랑하는 주의 계명들을 스스로 즐거워하며”(16,47절)라고 말합니다. 시편기자의 “내가 즐거워하며”라는 말은 그것이 그의 의지를 드러내는 의도적인 행동임을 보여줍니다. 그러나 하나님의 말씀을 즐거워하는 것이 그에게는 짐이 아닙니다. 말씀을 사랑하기 때문입니다. 하나님과의 밀접한 관계는 다윗으로 하여금 그가 사랑하는 주님이 무엇을 말씀하시는지 알고 싶은 열망을 갖게 해주었습니다. 이처럼 우리도 하나님 말씀 안에서 책임감이 아닌 즐거움을 느끼기 위해 주님과의 관계를 강화할 필요가 있습니다. 주님이 얼마나 우리를 사랑하고 소중히 여기시는지를 기억한다면, 우리는 사랑으로 응답하고 주님과 시간을 함께 보내는 것을 즐거워하게 될 것입니다. “내가 주의 법을 어찌 그리 사랑하는지요 내가 그것을 종일 작은 소리로 읊조리나이다”(97절).     낮에는 이런 기이한 기사들을 읽고 밤에는 그것들을 묵상하면서 저로 성경을 더욱 사랑하고 거기서 새로운 즐거움을 얻게 하소서 아침이나 낮이나 밤이나, 하나님의 말씀이 당신의 즐거움이 되게 하라. 시편 119:41-48 [41] 여호와여 주의 말씀대로 주의 인자하심과 주의 구원을 내게 임하게 하소서 [42] 그리하시면 내가 나를 비방하는 자들에게 대답할 말이 있사오리니 내가 주의 말씀을 의지함이니이다 [43] 진리의 말씀이 내 입에서 조금도 떠나지 말게 하소서 내가 주의 규례를 바랐음이니이다 [44] 내가 주의 율법을 항상 지키리이다 영원히 지키리이다 [45] 내가 주의 법도들을 구하였사오니 자유롭게 걸어갈 것이오며 [46] 또 왕들 앞에서 주의 교훈들을 말할 때에 수치를 당하지 아니하겠사오며 [47] 내가 사랑하는 주의 계명들을 스스로 즐거워하며 [48] 또 내가 사랑하는 주의 계명들을 향하여 내 손을 들고 주의 율례들을 작은 소리로 읊조리리이다
