O Hades, where is your victory? - 1 Corinthians 15:55 I’ve heard people say, “I’m not afraid of death because I’m confident that I’m going to heaven; it’s the dying process that scares me!” Yes, as Christians, we look forward to heaven but may be afraid of dying. We need not be ashamed to admit that. It is natural to be afraid of the pain that comes with dying, of being separated from our loved ones, of possibly impoverishing our families, and of regret over missed earthly opportunities. Why don’t Christians need to be afraid of death? Because Jesus was raised from the grave, and we who are in Christ will also be raised. That is why in 1 Corinthians 15:56-57, Paul proclaimed: “The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The dying process itself is but an escort that ushers us into eternity with God. As we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death,” we can have this confidence from God’s Word: “You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Ps. 23:4). The picture here is of the Lord coming alongside us, giving comfort and direction as He escorts us through the dark valley to the “house of the Lord.” There we will dwell with Him forever (v.6). - Albert Lee     Think of just crossing a river, Stepping out safe on that shore, Sadness and suffering over, Dwelling with Christ evermore! - Anon Death is the last shadow before heaven’s dawn. 2012년 10월 15일 (월) 골짜기를 인도하는 안내자 [ 시편 23:1 - 23:6 ] - 찬송가 413장 사망아 너의 승리가 어디 있느냐 사망아 네가 쏘는 것이 어디 있느냐 - 고린도전서 15:55 나는 사람들이 “나는 천국에 들어갈 것을 확신하고 있기 때문에 죽음이 두렵지 않습니다. 그러나 죽는 과정이 나를 너무나 두렵게 합니다.”라고 말하는 것을 계속 듣습니다. 그렇습니다. 우리는 그리스도인으로서 천국을 기대하면서도 죽는 것을 두려워할 수 있습니다. 그 사실을 인정하는데 부끄러워할 필요는 없습니다. 죽어가면서 겪는 고통, 사랑하는 사람들과의 이별, 가족의 빈곤 전락, 세상 살면서 놓친 기회들에 대한 후회가 두려운 것은 자연스러운 일입니다. 하지만 왜 그리스도인은 죽음을 두려워할 필요가 없을까요? 예수님이 무덤에서 부활하셨고 그리스도 안에 있는 우리 또한 다시 살아날 것이기 때문입니다. 이것이 바울사도가 고린도전서 15:56-57에서 “사망이 쏘는 것은 죄요 죄의 권능은 율법이라 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 승리를 주시는 하나님께 감사하노라”라고 선언한 이유입니다. 죽는 과정 자체는 우리를 하나님과 함께 할 영생으로 안내하는 과정일 뿐입니다. 우리가 “사망의 음침한 골짜기로 다닐지라도” 우리는 “주께서 나와 함께 하심이라 주의 지팡이와 막대기가 나를 안위하시나이다”(시 23:4)라는 하나님의 말씀으로부터 그것을 확신할 수 있습니다. 이 말씀은 주님께서 음침한 골짜기를 지나 “주님의 집”으로 우리를 인도하실 때에, 안위하시고 바른 길로 인도하시면서 우리와 동행하시는 주님을 묘사하고 있습니다. 그곳에서 우리는 주님과 함께 영원히 거하게 될 것입니다(6절).     강 건너 저편 언덕에 안전하게 발을 내딛는 것을 생각해보라 슬픔과 고통을 지나 영원히 그리스도와 함께 거하는 것을! 죽음은 천국의 여명이 밝기 전의 마지막 어두움이다. 시편 23:1-6 [1] 여호와는 나의 목자시니 내게 부족함이 없으리로다 [2] 그가 나를 푸른 풀밭에 누이시며 쉴 만한 물가로 인도하시는도다 [3] 내 영혼을 소생시키시고 자기 이름을 위하여 의의 길로 인도하시는도다 [4] 내가 사망의 음침한 골짜기로 다닐지라도 해를 두려워하지 않을 것은 주께서 나와 함께 하심이라 주의 지팡이와 막대기가 나를 안위하시나이다 [5] 주께서 내 원수의 목전에서 내게 상을 차려 주시고 기름을 내 머리에 부으셨으니 내 잔이 넘치나이다 [6] 내 평생에 선하심과 인자하심이 반드시 나를 따르리니 내가 여호와의 집에 영원히 살리로다
