October 16, 2012 — by Bill Crowder No More; No Less [ 2 Timothy 2:14 - 2:26 ] - hymn200 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth. -2 Timothy 2:15 Recently I was reading about how easy it is to mishandle the message of the Bible. We may try to make it support what we already believe is true instead of allowing it to speak to us with God’s intended message. Some people use the Bible to defend one side of an issue, while others use the Bible to attack that same issue. Both quote Scripture to support their views, but both can’t be right. It is important as we use God’s Word that we are committed to saying no more and no less than the Scriptures actually say. If we mishandle the Word, we misrepresent it, which ultimately misrepresents God’s character. This is why Paul challenged Timothy, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). A key priority for unashamed, approved workers for Christ is to accurately interpret (“rightly divide”) God’s Word. As we study, we can depend on the Spirit, who inspired it, to give us understanding and wisdom. Through our words and actions, we have opportunity to represent God’s Word in ways that genuinely reflect God’s heart. That is one of the greatest privileges of the Christian life. - Bill Crowder     Father, thank You for giving us Your Word to guide our lives. God’s Word-handle with care. 2 Timothy 2:14-26 [14] Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. [15] Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [16] But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. [17] And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, [18] who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. [19] Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." [20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. [21] Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. [22] Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. [23] But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. [24] And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, [25] in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, [26] and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

2012년 10월 16일 (화) 더도 말고 덜도 말고 [ 디모데후서 2:14 - 2:26 ] - 찬송가 200장 너는 진리의 말씀을 옳게 분별하며 부끄러울 것이 없는 일꾼으로 인정된 자로 자신을 하나님 앞에 드리기를 힘쓰라 - 디모데후서 2:15 최근에 나는 성경의 메시지가 잘못 다루어지기가 얼마나 쉬운지에 대해 읽고 있었습니다. 우리는 때때로 성경에서 하나님의 의도하시는 메시지를 들으려 하는 것이 아니라, 우리가 사실이라고 이미 믿고 있는 것을 입증하기 위해 성경을 사용하려고 합니다. 같은 문제를 놓고 어떤 사람들은 그 문제의 한 면을 방어하기 위해, 다른 사람들은 공격하기 위해 성경을 사용합니다. 양쪽 다 자신들의 관점을 뒷받침하려고 성경을 인용하지만 둘 다 옳지 않습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 사용할 때 성경이 실제로 말하는 것 그 이상도 그 이하도 말하지 않는 것이 아주 중요합니다. 우리가 말씀을 잘못 다루면 말씀을 잘못 전하게 되고, 결국에는 하나님의 품성을 잘못 전하게 됩니다. 바로 이것이 바울이 디모데에게 “너는 진리의 말씀을 옳게 분별하며 부끄러울 것이 없는 일꾼으로 인정된 자로 자신을 하나님 앞에 드리기를 힘쓰라”(딤후 2:15)라고 요구한 이유입니다. 그리스도를 위하여 부끄럽지 않고 인정받는 일꾼이 되기 위해 우선적으로 요구되는 것이 하나님의 말씀을 정확하게 해석하는(“옳게 나누는”) 것입니다. 말씀을 배우면서 이해하고 지혜를 얻기 위해서는 말씀에 영감을 불어넣으신 성령님께 의지해야 합니다. 우리의 말과 행동으로 하나님의 마음이 정확하게 반영될 수 있도록 하나님의 말씀을 대변할 수 있는 기회가 우리에게 있습니다. 그것은 그리스도인의 삶에 있어서 가장 큰 특권 중의 하나입니다.     하나님 아버지, 우리의 삶을 인도하시는 말씀을 주셔서 감사합니다. 마땅히 소중히 여겨야 할 말씀을 조심스레 다루게 하시고, 우리의 행동과 태도를 통해 말씀을 매일 실천하며 살게 해주소서. 아멘. 하나님의 말씀-조심해서 다루라 디모데후서 2:14-26 [14] 너는 그들로 이 일을 기억하게 하여 말다툼을 하지 말라고 하나님 앞에서 엄히 명하라 이는 유익이 하나도 없고 도리어 듣는 자들을 망하게 함이라 [15] 너는 진리의 말씀을 옳게 분별하며 부끄러울 것이 없는 일꾼으로 인정된 자로 자신을 하나님 앞에 드리기를 힘쓰라 [16] 망령되고 헛된 말을 버리라 그들은 경건하지 아니함에 점점 나아가나니 [17] 그들의 말은 악성 종양이 퍼져나감과 같은 같은데 그 중에 후메내오와 빌레도가 있느니라 [18] 진리에 관하여는 그들이 그릇되었도다 부활이 이미 지나갔다 함으로 어떤 사람들의 믿음을 무너뜨리느니라 [19] 그러나 하나님의 견고한 터는 섰으니 인침이 있어 일렀으되 주께서 자기 백성을 아신다 하며 또 주의 이름을 부르는 자마다 불의에서 떠날지어다 하였느니라 [20] 큰 집에는 금 그릇과 은 그릇뿐 아니라 나무 그릇과 질그릇도 있어 귀하게 쓰는 것도 있고 천하게 쓰는 것도 있나니 [21] 그러므로 누구든지 이런 것에서 자기를 깨끗하게 하면 귀히 쓰는 그릇이 되어 거룩하고 주인의 쓰심에 합당하며 모든 선한 일에 준비함이 되리라 [22] 또한 너는 청년의 정욕을 피하고 주를 깨끗한 마음으로 부르는 자들과 함께 의와 믿음과 사랑과 화평을 따르라 [23] 어리석고 무식한 변론을 버리라 이에서 다툼이 나는 줄 앎이라 [24] 주의 종은 마땅히 다투지 아니하고 모든 사람에 대하여 온유하며 가르치기를 잘하며 참으며 [25] 거역하는 자를 온유함으로 훈계할지니 혹 하나님이 그들에게 회개함을 주사 진리를 알게 하실까 하며 [26] 그들로 깨어 마귀의 올무에서 벗어나 하나님께 사로잡힌 바 되어 그 뜻을 따르게 하실까 함이라
