You follow Me. — John 21:22 | When you attend a children’s choir concert, you’re not surprised when the children look everywhere but at the director. They wiggle, squirm, and poke each other. They stand on tiptoes to search for parents in the audience. They raise their hands to wave when they see them. Oh, yes, and they occasionally sing. We smile at their antics. The behavior is cute in children. It’s not so cute when adult choir members don’t watch the conductor. Good music depends on singers who pay attention to the director so they can stay together as they sing.
Christians sometimes are like singers in a children’s choir. Instead of looking at Jesus, the great Conductor of the symphony of life, we are busy squirming or looking at each other or watching the audience.
Jesus admonished Peter for such behavior. After He told him what would be required of him, Peter pointed to John and asked, “What about him?” Jesus answered with a question: “What is that to you? You follow Me” (John 21:22).
Sometimes we are distracted by what others are doing. We think God’s plan for their life is better than His plan for ours. But God’s plan for each of us is the same: Follow Jesus. When we watch Him intently, we’ll not be distracted by God’s plan for anyone else.

John 21:15-22
[15] When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
[16] Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."
[17] The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.
[18] I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."
[19] Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"
[20] Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")
[21] When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
[22] Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." |
| | 2013년 01월 06일 (주일) | | | 네게 무슨 상관이냐? | | [ 요한복음 21:15 - 21:22 ] - 찬송가 315장 | | | 네게 무슨 상관이냐? 너는 나를 따르라 - 요한복음 21:22 | 어린이합창 공연에 가 보면, 아이들이 지휘자는 안 쳐다보고 다른 모든 곳을 보고 있는 것은 별로 놀라운 일이 아닙니다. 아이들은 몸을 비비꼬고, 꼼지락거리고, 서로 손가락으로 찌릅니다. 청중 속에 있는 부모를 찾기 위해 발돋움하기도 하고, 그러다가 부모를 찾게 되면 손을 들어 흔듭니다. 아, 물론 가끔 노래도 좀 하긴 하지요. 우리는 아이들의 그런 장난스런 모습에 미소를 짓습니다. 그런 행동을 아이들이 하면 귀엽습니다. 그러나 어른 합창단원들이 지휘자에게 주목하지 않는 것은 별로 귀엽지 않습니다. 좋은 음악이란 합창단원들이 노래를 부르는 동안 한마음이 될 수 있도록 지휘자에게 얼마나 집중하느냐에 달려 있기 때문입니다.
그리스도인들은 때때로 어린이 합창단원들과 같습니다. 삶이라는 교향곡의 위대한 지휘자이신 예수님을 바라보기보다는 꼼지락거리거나 서로를 바라보기보다는 객석을 바라보느라고 바쁩니다.
예수님은 베드로의 이런 행동을 꾸짖으셨습니다. 예수님께서 베드로에게 나중에 무엇이 요구되는지 말씀하시자, 베드로는 요한을 가리키며 “이 사람은 어떻게 되겠습니까” 하고 물었습니다. 그러자 예수님은 “네게 무슨 상관이냐 너는 나를 따르라”(요 21:22)라고 대답하셨습니다.
가끔 우리는 다른 사람들이 하는 것을 보느라 주의가 산만해집니다. 우리는 그들을 위한 하나님의 계획이 우리를 위한 계획보다 더 좋다고 생각합니다. 하지만 우리 개개인을 위한 하나님의 계획은 똑같습니다. 그것은 예수님을 따르도록 하는 것입니다. 우리가 하나님을 집중해서 바라본다면 다른 이들을 향한 하나님의 계획 때문에 산만해지지 않을 것입니다. |

요한복음 21:15-22
[15] 그들이 조반 먹은 후에 예수께서 시몬 베드로에게 이르시되 요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐 하시니 이르되 주님 그러하나이다 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다 이르시되 내 어린 양을 먹이라 하시고
[16] 또 두 번째 이르시되 요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 나를 사랑하느냐 하시니 이르되 주님 그러하나이다 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다 이르시되 내 양을 치라 하시고

[19] 이 말씀을 하심은 베드로가 어떠한 죽음으로 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 것을 가리키심이러라 이 말씀을 하시고 베드로에게 이르시되 나를 따르라 하시니
[20] 베드로가 돌이켜 예수께서 사랑하시는 그 제자가 따르는 것을 보니 그는 만찬석에서 예수의 품에 의지하여 주님 주님을 파는 자가 누구오니이까 묻던 자더라
[21] 이에 베드로가 그를 보고 예수께 여짜오되 주님 이 사람은 어떻게 되겠사옵나이까
[22] 예수께서 이르시되 내가 올 때까지 그를 머물게 하고자 할지라도 네게 무슨 상관이냐 너는 나를 따르라 하시더라 |
