| January 8, 2013 — by Dave Branon | | | Where Sinners Go | | [ Romans 5:6 - 5:15 ] - hymn189 | | | God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8 | My friend was having a conversation with a man who didn’t have much good to say about the Christian faith. My friend knew that if he were to sound too “religious,” he would jeopardize any chance to witness. So, in the middle of their discussion, he said, “Hey, Bob, do you know where sinners go?”“That’s easy,” he replied. “You’re going to tell me they go to hell.”“No,” my friend responded. “They go to church.”
Bob was speechless. That wasn’t what he expected. He wasn’t ready to hear from a Christian who realized he wasn’t perfect. My friend had a chance to share that Christians understand their sinfulness and their need for continual spiritual restoration. He was able to explain grace—the unmerited favor we have with God despite our sinfulness (Rom.5:8-9; Eph.2:8-9).
Perhaps we don’t give those outside the church a clear picture of what’s happening inside. They may not understand that we’re there to praise our Savior for providing “redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins”(Col.1:14).
Yes, sinners go to church. And sinners—forgiven ones—go to heaven because of God’s grace. |
Romans 5:6-15
[6] You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
[7] Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
[8] But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
[9] Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
[10] For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
[11] Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
[12] Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--
[13] for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
[14] Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
[15] But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! |
| | 2013년 01월 08일 (화) | | | 죄인들은 어디로 가는가 | | [ 로마서 5:6 - 5:15 ] - 찬송가 189장 | | | 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라 - 로마서 5:8 | 내 친구가 기독교신앙에 대해 별로 좋지 않게 이야기하는 밥이라는 남자와 대화를 나누고 있었습니다. 내 친구는 자신이 너무 “종교적”인 느낌을 주면 예수님을 증거할 기회를 놓치는 위험에 빠지리라는 것을 알았습니다. 그래서 그는 이야기 도중에 “이봐요 밥, 죄인들이 어디로 가는지 아세요”라고 물었습니다. “그거야 쉽죠. 당신은 지금 죄인들은 지옥에 간다고 제게 말하려는 거지요.”라고 밥이 대답했습니다. 그러자 내 친구는 “아뇨. 죄인들은 교회로 갑니다.”라고 답했습니다.
밥은 할 말을 잃었습니다. 그 대답은 그가 기대했던 것이 아니었습니다. 밥은 자신이 완전하지 못하다는 사실을 깨달은 그리스도인과 대화할 준비가 되어있지 않았습니다. 내 친구는 밥과 대화하며 그리스도인들이 자신들의 죄성을 인식하고 있으며 영적인 회복을 계속 필요로 한다는 것을 나눌 기회를 가질 수 있었습니다. 또한 우리가 죄인임에도 불구하고 하나님으로부터 값없이 은혜를 받았다는 것도 그에게 설명할 수 있었습니다(롬 5:8-9; 엡 2:8-9).
우리는 교회 안에서 일어나는 일들에 대해 외부 사람들에게 좀 더 분명하게 보여주지 못하는 것 같습니다. “그 아들 안에서…속량 곧 죄사함을”(골 1:14) 주시는 우리 구주를 찬양하기 위해 우리가 교회에 모인다는 것을 그들이 이해하지 못하고 있는지도 모릅니다.
그렇습니다. 죄인들이 교회에 갑니다. 그리고 죄인들, 곧 죄 사함 받은 죄인들이 하나님의 은혜로 천국에 갑니다. |

로마서 5:6-15
[6] 우리가 아직 연약할 때에 기약대로 그리스도께서 경건하지 않은 자를 위하여 죽으셨도다
[7] 의인을 위하여 죽는 자가 쉽지 않고 선인을 위하여 용감히 죽는 자가 혹 있거니와
[8] 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라
[9] 그러면 이제 우리가 그의 피로 말미암아 의롭다 하심을 받았으니 더욱 그로 말미암아 진노하심에서 구원을 받을 것이니
[10] 곧 우리가 원수 되었을 때에 그의 아들의 죽으심으로 말미암아 하나님과 화목하게 되었은즉 화목하게 된 자로서는 더욱 그의 살아나심으로 말미암아 구원을 받을 것이니라
[11] 그뿐 아니라 이제 우리로 화목하게 하신 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님 안에서 또한 즐거워하느니라
[12] 그러므로 한 사람으로 말미암아 죄가 세상에 들어오고 죄로 말미암아 사망이 들어왔나니 이와 같이 모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 사망이 모든 사람에게 이르렀느니라
[13] 죄가 율법 있기 전에도 세상에 있었으나 율법이 없었을 때에는 죄를 죄로 여기지 아니하였느니라
[14] 그러나 아담으로부터 모세까지 아담의 범죄와 같은 죄를 짓지 아니한 자들까지도 사망이 왕 노릇 하였나니 아담은 오실 자의 모형이라
[15] 그러나 이 은사는 그 범죄와 같지 아니하니 곧 한 사람의 범죄를 인하여 많은 사람이 죽었은즉 더욱 하나님의 은혜와 또한 한 사람 예수 그리스도의 은혜로 말미암은 선물은 많은 사람에게 넘쳤느니라 |
