The whole earth is full of His glory! — Isaiah 6:3
Because of where I live, I’m treated to spectacular displays of the magnificent, creative glory of God. Recently, on a drive through the woods, I was struck with a breath-taking display of deep rich reds and a variety of yellows that decorated the trees of autumn—all artfully arranged against the backdrop of a brilliant blue sky.
And soon, as the temperatures plummet and winter blows in, I’ll be reminded that no two snowflakes are ever the same as they pile on top of one another to create a rolling landscape of pristine white drifts. After that will come the miracle of spring, when that which seemed hopelessly dead bursts into life with buds and blossoms that will grace the meadows with a multiplicity of colors.
Wherever we look in the world around us, we see evidence that “the whole earth is full of His glory!”(Isa.6:3). What is amazing is that the creation that surrounds us is damaged by sin (see Rom.8:18-22), yet God has seen fit to grace our fallen landscape with these loving brushstrokes of His creative hand. It serves as a daily reminder that the beauty of His grace covers our sin and that His love for that which is fallen is always available to us.
Lord, may we be ever mindful of Your grace and love in all that surrounds us. Thank You for making Yourself visible through the beauty of Your creation. Teach us to look beyond the beauty to see Your hand at work.
Never pass up an opportunity to enjoy nature’s beauty—it’s the handwriting of God.

[1] In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. [2] Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. [3] And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" [4] And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. [5] So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." [6] Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.

만물에서 보이는 하나님
[ 이사야 6:1 - 6:6 ] - 찬송가478장
그의 영광이 온 땅에 충만하도다 - 이사야 6:3
내가 사는 곳에서 나는 하나님의 영광이 웅대하고 독창적으로 펼쳐지는 장관을 만끽합니다. 최근에는 숲속 길을 운전해 통과하던 중, 가을 나무를 장식하고 있는 진한 빨강과 다채로운 노란색들이 눈부신 파란 하늘을 배경으로 기가 막히게 펼쳐진 숨 막히는 광경에 깊은 감명을 받았습니다.
이제 곧 기온이 떨어지고 겨울이 찾아와서 눈송이들이 차곡차곡 쌓여 태곳적 그대로의 새하얀 풍경을 만들어 가면, 그 눈송이들이 어느 것도 똑같지 않다는 것을 상기하게 될 것입니다. 그 후에는 아무 희망 없이 죽은 것 같던 것들이 새 생명을 찾아 새싹이 나고 꽃이 피어 들판을 갖가지 색으로 물들일 봄의 기적이 찾아올 것입니다.
우리 주변의 세상 어느 곳을 바라보아도 우리는 “그의 영광이 온 땅에 충만하도다”(사 6:3)라는 말씀의 증거를 봅니다. 놀라운 것은, 우리를 둘러싼 하나님의 창조물이 죄로 인해 손상을 입었지만(롬 8:18-22 참조), 하나님은 이 타락한 세상을 당신의 창조의 손길에서 나오는 사랑의 붓놀림으로 아름답게 꾸미는 것이 합당하다고 보셨다는 것입니다. 이 사실은 하나님의 은혜의 아름다움이 우리 죄를 덮으며, 타락한 이 세상을 향한 하나님의 사랑을 우리가 늘 누릴 수 있음을 매일 매일 상기시켜 줍니다.
주님, 만물에 보이신 주님의 은혜와 사랑을 항상 기억하게 하소서. 주님의 창조물의 아름다움을 통해 주님 자신을 나타내 보여주심을 감사합니다. 이러한 아름다움을 넘어서 역사하고 계시는 당신의 손길도 볼 수
있도록 가르쳐주소서.
자연의 아름다움을 맛보는 기회를 절대로
지나치지 말라. 그것은 하나님의 필적이다.

[1] 웃시야 왕이 죽던 해에 내가 본즉 주께서 높이 들린 보좌에 앉으셨는데 그의 옷자락은 성전에 가득하였고 [2] 스랍들이 모시고 섰는데 각기 여섯 날개가 있어 그 둘로는 자기의 얼굴을 가리었고 그 둘로는 자기의 발을 가리었고 그 둘로는 날며 [3] 서로 불러 이르되 거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 만군의 여호와여 그의 영광이 온 땅에 충만하도다 하더라 [4] 이같이 화답하는 자의 소리로 말미암아 문지방의 터가 요동하며 성전에 연기가 충만한지라 [5] 그 때에 내가 말하되 화로다 나여 망하게 되었도다 나는 입술이 부정한 사람이요 나는 입술이 부정한 백성 중에 거주하면서 만군의 여호와이신 왕을 뵈었음이로다 하였더라 [6] 그 때에 그 스랍 중의 하나가 부젓가락으로 제단에서 집은 바 핀 숯을 손에 가지고 내게로 날아와서
