09 September Wed, 2015 A Fragrance and a Letter [ 2 Corinthians 2:14 - 3:3 ] - hymn452 We are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ. - 2 Corinthians 2:15 Every time I get close to a rosebush or a bouquet of flowers, I’m unable to resist the temptation to pull a flower toward my nose to savor the fragrance. The sweet aroma lifts up my heart and triggers good feelings within me. Writing to the Christians in Corinth centuries ago, the apostle Paul says that because we belong to Christ, God “uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere”(2 Cor.2:14). Through His strength we can live a victorious life, exchanging our selfishness for His love and kindness and proclaiming the goodness of His salvation. When we do this, we are indeed a sweet fragrance to God. Paul then switches to a second image, describing Christians as a “letter from Christ”(3:3). The letter of our lives is not written with ordinary ink, but by the Spirit of God. God changes us by writing His Word on our hearts for others to read. Both word pictures encourage us to allow the beauty of Christ to be seen in us so we can point people to Him. He is the one who, as Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:2, “loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”- Lawrence Darmani     Lord, let Your splendor fill my life, that I may draw people to You. Help me walk in the way that spreads the fragrance of Your love to others. Our actions speak louder than our words. 2 Corinthians 2:14–3:3 [14] Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. [15] For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. [16] To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? [17] For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ. [3:1] Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? [2] You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; [3] clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

2015년 09월 09일 (수) 향기와 편지 [ 고린도후서 2:14 - 3:3 ] - 찬송가 452장 우리는…하나님 앞에서 그리스도의 향기니 - 고린도후서 2:15 장미꽃이나 꽃다발 가까이에 갈 때마다 나는 꽃을 코끝으로 끌어당겨 향기를 맡고 싶은 유혹을 뿌리치지 못합니다. 감미로운 꽃향기는 나의 마음에 감동을 주고 기분을 좋게 해줍니다. 오래 전 고린도 교인들에게 쓴 편지에서 바울사도는 우리가 그리스도에게 속하였으므로 하나님이 “우리로 말미암아 각처에서 그리스도를 아는 냄새를 나타내신다”(고후 2:14)라고 말했습니다. 주님이 주시는 능력으로 우리는 우리의 이기심을 주님의 사랑과 인자로 바꾸고, 주님의 선하신 구원을 선포하면서 승리의 삶을 살 수 있습니다. 우리가 이렇게 살 때 우리는 참으로 하나님께 아름다운 향기가 됩니다. 이어서 바울은 그리스도인들의 두 번째 모습을 “그리스도의 편지”(3:3)로 묘사합니다. 우리의 인생이라는 편지는 일반 잉크로 기록되는 것이 아니라 하나님의 영에 의해 기록됩니다. 하나님은 그분의 말씀을 우리 마음속에 쓰심으로 우리를 변화시키시고, 그것을 다른 사람들이 읽을 수 있게 하십니다.  이 생생한 두 단어를 떠올릴 때, 우리는 그리스도의 아름다움이 우리 안에 나타나 사람들이 우리를 통해 하나님을 볼 수 있기를 바라게 됩니다. 바울이 에베소서 5장 2절에 기록한 대로 주님은 “우리를 위하여 자신을 버리사 향기로운 제물과 희생제물로 하나님께 드리신” 바로 그분입니다.     주님, 주님의 광채로 나를 채우셔서 내가 사람들을 주님께로 인도할 수 있게 하소서. 주님의 사랑의 향기를 다른 사람들에게 퍼뜨리는 삶을 살게 하소서. 행동은 말보다 더 힘이 있다. 고린도후서 2:14-3:3 [14] 항상 우리를 그리스도 안에서 이기게 하시고 우리로 말미암아 각처에서 그리스도를 아는 냄새를 나타내시는 하나님께 감사하노라 [15] 우리는 구원 받는 자들에게나 망하는 자들에게나 하나님 앞에서 그리스도의 향기니 [16] 이 사람에게는 사망으로부터 사망에 이르는 냄새요 저 사람에게는 생명으로부터 생명에 이르는 냄새라 누가 이 일을 감당하리요 [17] 우리는 수많은 사람들처럼 하나님의 말씀을 혼잡하게 하지 아니하고 곧 순전함으로 하나님께 받은 것 같이 하나님 앞에서와 그리스도 안에서 말하노라 [3:1] 우리가 다시 자천하기를 시작하겠느냐 우리가 어찌 어떤 사람처럼 추천서를 너희에게 부치거나 혹은 너희에게 받거나 할 필요가 있느냐 [2] 너희는 우리의 편지라 우리 마음에 썼고 뭇 사람이 알고 읽는 바라 [3] 너희는 우리로 말미암아 나타난 그리스도의 편지니 이는 먹으로 쓴 것이 아니요 오직 살아 계신 하나님의 영으로 쓴 것이며 또 돌판에 쓴 것이 아니요 오직 육의 마음판에 쓴 것이라
