24 October Sat, 2015 Becoming Invisible [ Exodus 2:11 - 2:22 ] - hymn442 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. - Ecclesiastes 3:1 Where I live, this is the time of year when plants defy death by remaining underground until it is safe to come out again. Before the snow comes and the ground freezes, they let go of their beautiful blooms and retreat to a place where they can rest and save energy for the next growing season. Contrary to the way it looks, they are not dead; they are dormant. When the snow melts and the ground thaws, they will again lift their heads toward heaven, greeting their Creator with brilliant colors and sweet fragrances. The seasons of life require that we sometimes enter a period of dormancy. We are not dead, but we may feel we’ve become invisible. During such times we may feel useless, and we may wonder whether God will ever use us again. But periods like this are for our protection and preparation. When the time is right and the conditions are safe, God will call us once again to service and worship. Moses experienced a period of time like this. After killing an Egyptian who harmed a fellow Hebrew, Moses had to flee for his life to the distant land of the Midianites(Ex.2:11-22). There, God protected him and prepared him for the biggest assignment of his life (3:10). So be encouraged. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren. [12] So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. [13] And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, "Why are you striking your companion?" [14] Then he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" So Moses feared and said, "Surely this thing is known!" [15] When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well. [16] Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled the troughs to water their father's flock. [17] Then the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. [18] When they came to Reuel their father, he said, "How is it that you have come so soon today?" [19] And they said, "An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew enough water for us and watered the flock." [20] So he said to his daughters, "And where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread." [21] Then Moses was content to live with the man, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses. [22] And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said, "I have been a stranger in a foreign land."

2015년 10월 24일 (토) 보이지 않게 됨 [ 출애굽기 2:11 - 2:22 ] - 찬송가 442장 범사에 기한이 있고 천하 만사가 다 때가 있나니 - 전도서 3:1 내가 사는 곳은 지금이 일 년 중에 식물들이 다시 밖으로 나와도 안전할 때까지 땅속에 머물러 있음으로 해서 죽음을 피할 수 있는 시기입니다. 눈이 오고 땅이 얼기 전에, 식물들은 아름다운 꽃을 떨어내고 다음 발육시기를 위해 기운을 저장하고 쉴 수 있는 곳으로 물러납니다. 보기와는 달리 그들은 죽은 것이 아니라 동면하고 있을 뿐입니다. 눈이 녹고 땅이 녹으면 식물들은 다시 하늘을 향해 고개를 들고 화려한 색깔과 아름다운 향기로 그들의 창조주께 인사합니다.  인생의 계절에도 때로는 동면의 시기가 필요합니다. 우리가 죽은 것은 아니지만 누구에게도 보이지 않게 된 것같이 느낄 때가 있습니다. 그럴 때 우리는 무용지물처럼 느껴질 수도 있고, 하나님이 우리를 다시 불러 쓰실까 의심스러워지기도 합니다. 그러나 그런 기간들은 우리를 보호하고 준비시키기 위한 기간입니다. 때가 되고 상황이 안전해지면 하나님이 우리를 다시 부르셔서 예배하고 봉사하게 하실 것입니다.  모세도 이와 같은 시기를 경험했습니다. 자기 동족 히브리인을 쳤던 한 애굽인을 죽인 후, 모세는 생명을 지키기 위해 멀리 미디안 땅까지 도망가야 했습니다(출 2:11-22). 거기서 하나님은 그를 보호하시고 그의 일생에서 가장 큰 임무를 위해 그를 준비시키셨습니다(3:10).  그러므로 용기를 가지십시오. 우리는 하나님 앞에서 절대로 보이지 않는 존재가 아닙니다.     주님, 목자가 우리를 인도하듯이 우리에게도 주님의 따뜻한 보살핌이 많이 필요합니다. 주님의 아름다운 초장에서 우리를 먹이시고, 우리를 쓰실 수 있도록  주님의 양들을 준비시켜주소서. INSIGHT: Although Moses was “educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians” (Acts 7:22), he did not forget that he was a Hebrew (Ex. 2:11; Heb. 11:24-26). In those crucial formative years as a child, Moses was raised as a Jew by Jochebed, his own mother (Ex. 2:7-10; Num. 26:59). - Sim Kay Tee
