For the last few years, my wife, Marlene, has suffered from inner-ear problems that cause her to lose her equilibrium. Without warning, something inside her ear is upset and she becomes dizzy. If she tries to sit or stand, a condition called vertigo makes that impossible—and she has to lie down. No amount of effort can compensate for the power of the inner ear to disrupt and disturb. An active person, Marlene finds these unwelcome episodes frustrating.		지난 수년간 나의 아내 마린은 중이염 때문에 몸의 중심을 잡는 데 힘들어했습니다. 갑자기 귀 안이 아프면서 어지러워집니다. 앉거나 서려고 할 때면 현기증이 나서 그렇게 할 수 없고 누워 있어야만 합니다. 아무리 노력을 해도 그녀의 평형을 깨트리며 어지럽게 하는 그 중이의 힘을 이겨낼 수가 없습니다. 늘 활동적으로 살아 온 마린이라 이 달갑지 않은 상황은 좌절을 가져다주었습니다.
Sometimes life is like that. Something unexpected upsets our routine, and we are knocked off-balance. Perhaps it’s bad news about our job being eliminated or disturbing test results from our doctor. It may even be an attack from our spiritual enemy. In each case, our emotional equilibrium is hammered, and we feel as if we can’t stand.		때때로 우리의 인생도 이와 같습니다. 예기치 않던 일이 우리의 일상생활을 방해하고 평형을 잃어버리게 합니다. 직장에서 받은 해고통지서나 의사의 불길한 진단과 같은 좋지 않은 소식이 우리를 그렇게 만듭니다. 심지어 영적인 적으로부터 공격을 받을 때도 그러합니다. 이런 일이 일어날 때마다 우리의 정서적 평형은 깨어지고 우리는 더 이상 삶을 지탱해나갈 수 없을 것 같은 느낌에 빠집니다.
Those moments should cause us to turn to God. When we feel we are losing our balance, He can help. He provides spiritual resources to help us stand. Paul says, “Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Eph. 6:13).		바로 이 때가 우리가 하나님께 나아가야 할 때입니다. 우리가 평형을 잃었다고 느낄 때 하나님은 우리를 도우실 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리가 넘어지지 않고 설 수 있도록 영적 자원을 공급해주십니다. 바울사도는 다음과 같이 말하였습니다. “그러므로 하나님의 전신갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라”(에베소서 6:13).
When life knocks us off our feet, we don’t have to be frustrated. With God’s strength lifting us up and God’s armor protecting us, we can still stand strong. —Bill Crowder		우리의 삶이 무너질지라도 우리는 좌절할 필요가 없습니다. 하나님의 능력이 우리를 일으켜 세우고 하나님의 전신갑주가 우리를 보호해주니 우리는 굳건히 설 수 있습니다.
With patience in His love I’ll rest,  And whisper that He knoweth best,  Then, clinging to that guiding hand,  A weakling, in His strength I’ll stand. —Pentecost		주님의 사랑 안에 인내하며 안식하리  그가 모든 것을 아신다고 속삭이리  나 비록 약해도 주님의 인도하는 손을 꼭 붙들고  주님의 힘 의지하여 굳게 서리
We can endure anything if we depend on God for everything.		모든 일을 하나님께 의지하면 그 어떤 일도 견뎌낼 수 있다.

The Armor of God

 ¹⁰ Finally, ^(A)be strong in the Lord and in ^(B)the strength of His might. ^11 (C)Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the ^(D)schemes of the devil. ¹² For our^(E)struggle is not against ^[a](F)flesh and blood, but ^(G)against the rulers, against the powers, against the ^(H)world forces of this ^(I)darkness, against the ^(J)spiritual forces of wickedness in ^(K)the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore, take up ^(L)the full armor of God, so that you will be able to ^(M)resist in ^(N)the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore, ^(O)HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING ^(P)PUT on THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, ¹⁵ and having ^(Q)shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; ^16 [b]in addition to all, taking up the ^(R)shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the ^(S)flaming arrows of ^(T)the evil one. ¹⁷ And take ^(U)THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the ^(V)sword of the Spirit, which is ^(W)the word of God.
