26 March Mon, 2012 AVENUE TO POWER [ 2 Corinthians 12:1 - 12:10 ] - hymn400 I will ... boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9 When Tarah was in high school, she had a growing fear that she would someday battle a serious ill-ness. So she began to pray-asking God to spare her from this imagined illness. Then she reached a turning point in her thinking, and she yielded her future to God no matter what. Years later, Tarah's doctor found a cancerous tumor, which was success-fully treated with chemotherapy. Tarah says that because she had entrusted her future to God, she was ready when the disease came. Her problem became an avenue for God's strength. This idea of surrendering to God can be seen in Paul's life as well. His surrender came after the problem-"a thorn in the flesh"-had developed (2 Cor.12:7). Paul prayed repeatedly about this difficulty, pleading for the Lord to take it from him. But God responded, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness"(v.9). Understanding this, Paul adopted a positive view: "Most gladly I will rather boast in my infir-mities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ... For when I am weak, then I am strong"(vv.9-10). In facing our fears and struggles, it's vital that we yield totally to God. When we do, God can use our problems as an avenue for His power. -Dennis Fisher     Whenever life's burdens oppress you And trials are too much to face, Remember God's strength in your weakness; He'll give you His power and grace. - Sper Wielding our power is no substitute for yielding our will to God's power. 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 [1] It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord： [2] I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven. [3] And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- [4] how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. [5] Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. [6] For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me. [7] And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. [8] Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. [9] And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. [10] Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2012년 03월 26일 (월) 능력에 이르는 길 [ 고린도후서 12:1 - 12:10 ] - 찬송가 400장 나의 여러 약한 것들에 대하여 자랑하리니 이는 그리스도의 능력이 내게 머물게 하려 함이라 - 고린도후서 12:9 타라는 고등학생 시절, 앞으로 자신이 중병과 싸우게 될지도 모른다는 두려움에 시달리고 있었습니다. 그래서 그녀는 하나님께 이 상상의 병으로부터 지켜달라는 기도를 시작했습니다. 그러다가 사고의 전환점을 맞게 되면서, 타라는 미래가 어떻게 되든 하나님께 맡기기로 하였습니다.  여러 해가 지난 후, 의사가 타라에게서 악성 종양을 발견하였고 이는 항암제 요법으로 성공적으로 치료되었습니다. 타라는 자신의 미래를 하나님께 맡기고 있었기 때문에, 그 병에 걸렸을 때 준비가 되어 있었다고 말합니다. 그녀가 감당하기 힘든 문제가 강하신 하나님께 이르는 길이 되었던 것입니다. 이처럼 하나님께 내어놓는 모습은 바울의 삶에서도 볼 수 있습니다. 그의 내어놓음은 “육체의 가시”(고후 12:7)라는 문제가 발생한 후에 나타났습니다. 바울은 주님께 그것을 없애달라고 간청하면서 이 어려움에 대해 반복적으로 기도했습니다. 하지만, 하나님은 “내 은혜가 네게 족하도다 이는 내 능력이 약한 데서 온전하여짐이라”(9절)라고 응답하셨습니다. 이 말씀을 이해한 바울은 “도리어 크게 기뻐함으로 나의 여러 약한 것들에 대하여 자랑하리니 이는 그리스도의 능력이 내게 머물게 하려 함이라... 이는 내가 약한 그 때에 곧 강함이라”(9-10절)라고 하며 긍정적인 생각을 갖게 되었습니다.두려움과 어려움에 직면할 때, 전적으로 하나님께 맡기는 것이 대단히 중요합니다. 우리가 그렇게 할 때 하나님은 우리의 문제들을 하나님의 능력에 이르는 길로 사용하실 수 있습니다.     삶의 짐들이 당신을 짓누를 때마다 시험들이 감당하기에 너무 벅찰 때마다 당신의 약함 속에 하나님의 강함이 있는 것을 기억하라 주님이 당신에게 주님의 힘과 은혜를 주시리라 우리 능력대로 행하는 것은 하나님의 능력에 우리의 의지를 복종시키는 것에 결코 미치지 못한다. 고린도후서 12:1-10 [1] 무익하나마 내가 부득불 자랑하노니 주의 환상과 계시를 말하리라 [2] 내가 그리스도 안에 있는 한 사람을 아노니 십사 년 전에 그가 셋째 하늘에 이끌려 간 자라 (그가 몸 안에 있었는지 몸 밖에 있었는지 나는 모르거니와 하나님은 아시느니라) [3] 내가 이런 사람을 아노니 (그가 몸 안에 있었는지 몸 밖에 있었는지 나는 모르거니와 하나님은 아시느니라) [4] 그가 낙원으로 이끌려 가서 말할 수 없는 말을 들었으니 사람이 가히 이르지 못할 말이로다 [5] 내가 이런 사람을 위하여 자랑하겠으나 나를 위하여는 약한 것들 외에 자랑치 아니하리라 [6] 내가 만일 자랑하고자 하여도 어리석은 자가 되지 아니할 것은 내가 참말을 함이라 그러나 누가 나를 보는 바와 내게 듣는 바에 지나치게 생각할까 두려워하여 그만 두노라 [7] 여러 계시를 받은 것이 지극히 크므로 너무 자고하지 않게 하시려고 내 육체에 가시 곧 사단의 사자를 주셨으니 이는 나를 쳐서 너무 자고하지 않게 하려 하심이니라 [8] 이것이 내게서 떠나기 위하여 내가 세 번 주께 간구하였더니 [9] 내게 이르시기를 내 은혜가 네게 족하도다 이는 내 능력이 약한 데서 온전하여짐이라 하신지라 이러므로 도리어 크게 기뻐함으로 나의 여러 약한 것들에 대하여 자랑하리니 이는 그리스도의 능력으로 내게 머물게 하려 함이라 [10] 그러므로 내가 그리스도를 위하여 약한 것들과 능욕과 궁핍과 핍박과 곤란을 기뻐하노니 이는 내가 약할 그 때에 곧 강함이니라
