| January 14, 2013 — by Randy Kilgore | | | God Must Love Me More | | [ Job 12:1 - 12:10 ] - hymn543 | | | A [disaster] is despised in the thought of one who is at ease; it is made ready for those whose feet slip. — Job 12:5 | During a difficult recession, I organized a support group for fellow Christians to help them cope with unemployment. We provided resumé reviews, networking, and prayer support. one problem emerged: Whenever someone got a job, he or she almost never returned to the group to offer encouragement. That increased the loneliness and isolation of those left in the group.
Worse, though, were comments from those who had never experienced a job loss. They mirrored the accusations of Job’s friends in his suffering: “If you were pure and upright, surely now [God] would awake for you, and prosper [you]” (8:6). By chapter 12, Job is starting to express things in terms modern workers can understand. He says that he feels despised by those whose life is easy (v.5).
When things are going well for us, we may start to think that we who don’t have troubles are better somehow, or are more loved by God, than those who are struggling. We forget that the effects of this fallen world are indiscriminate.
We are all loved by the Lord and we all need Him—in good times and bad. The successes, abundance, and positions that God has given to us are tools to help us encourage others in their time of need. |

Job 12:1-10
[1] Then Job replied:
[2] "Doubtless you are the people, and wisdom will die with you!
[3] But I have a mind as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know all these things?
[4] "I have become a laughingstock to my friends, though I called upon God and he answered--a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!
[5] Men at ease have contempt for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.
[6] The tents of marauders are undisturbed, and those who provoke God are secure--those who carry their god in their hands.
[7] "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
[8] or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you.
[9] Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
[10] In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. |
| | 2013년 01월 14일 (월) | | | 하나님은 나를 더 사랑하셔 | | [ 욥기 12:1 - 12:10 ] - 찬송가 543장 | | | 평안한 자의 마음은 재앙을 멸시하나 재앙이 실족하는 자를 기다리는구나 - 욥기 12:5 | 어려운 불황의 시기에 나는 동료 그리스도인들이 실직에 잘 대처할 수 있도록 지원하는 단체를 조직했습니다. 우리는 이력서를 검토해주거나 사람들과 연결시켜주고, 기도로 지원해주었습니다. 그런데 한 가지 문제가 생겼습니다. 직장을 구하게 된 사람들이 도움을 제공한 그 단체로 돌아와 격려해주는 사례가 거의 없었던 것입니다. 그로 인해 단체 안에 남아 있는 다른 사람들은 더욱더 외로워하며 소외되어 갔습니다.
더 나쁜 것은 한 번도 실직을 해보지 않은 사람들의 말이었습니다. 그것은 욥이 고통 중에 있을 때 와서 한 친구들의 비난과 같았습니다. “또 청결하고 정직하면 반드시 너를 돌보시고 네 의로운 처소를 평안하게 하실 것이라”(8:6). 12장에서 욥은 현대의 직장인들도 이해할 수 있는 말로 자신을 표현하기 시작합니다. 그는 편하게 사는 자들에게 멸시를 받는 것 같다고 말하고 있습니다(5절).
모든 일이 다 잘 되어갈 때, 우리는 고통 중에 있는 사람들보다 문제가 없는 우리가 더 잘났거나 하나님께 더 많은 사랑을 받는 사람이라는 생각을 할 수 있습니다. 타락한 이 세상은 차별 없이 우리에게 영향을 미친다는 것을 잊고 있는 것이지요.
좋을 때나 나쁠 때나 우리는 모두 주님의 사랑을 받고 있으며 주님이 필요합니다. 그리고 하나님이 우리에게 허락하신 성공과 풍요와 지위는 우리가 어려운 이웃들을 격려하도록 도와주는 도구들입니다. |

[1] 욥이 대답하여 이르되
[2] 너희만 참으로 백성이로구나 너희가 죽으면 지혜도 죽겠구나
[3] 나도 너희 같이 생각이 있어 너희만 못하지 아니하니 그같은 일을 누가 알지 못하겠느냐
[4] 하나님께 불러 아뢰어 들으심을 입은 내가 이웃에게 웃음거리가 되었으니 의롭고 온전한 자가 조롱거리가 되었구나
[5] 평안한 자의 마음은 재앙을 멸시하나 재앙이 실족하는 자를 기다리는구나
[6] 강도의 장막은 형통하고 하나님을 진노하게 하는 자는 평안하니 하나님이 그의 손에 후히 주심이니라
[7] 이제 모든 짐승에게 물어 보라 그것들이 네게 가르치리라 공중의 새에게 물어 보라 그것들이 또한 네게 말하리라
[8] 땅에게 말하라 네게 가르치리라 바다의 고기도 네게 설명하리라
