| September 28, 2013 — by Jennifer Benson Schuldt | | | Who Am I? | | [ Exodus 3:7 - 3:15 ] - hymn390 | | | Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” — Exodus 3:11 | Years ago, world-famous evangelist Billy Graham was scheduled to speak at Cambridge University in England, but he did not feel qualified to address the sophisticated thinkers. He had no advanced degrees and he had never attended seminary. Billy confided in a close friend: “I do not know that I have ever felt more inadequate and totally unprepared for a mission.” He prayed for God’s help, and God used him to share the simple truth of the gospel and the cross of Christ.
Moses also felt inadequate when God recruited him for the task of telling Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Moses asked, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?”(Ex.3:11). Although Moses may have questioned his effectiveness because he was “slow of speech”(4:10), God said, “I will certainly be with you”(3:12). Knowing he would have to share God’s rescue plan and tell the Israelites who sent him, Moses asked God, “What shall I say to them?” God replied, “I AM has sent me to you”(vv.13-14). His name, “I AM,” revealed His eternal, self-existent, and all-sufficient character.
Even when we question our ability to do what God has asked us to do, He can be trusted. Our shortcomings are less important than God’s sufficiency. When we ask, “Who am I?” we can remember that God said, “I AM.” |

Exodus 3:7-15
[7] And the LORD said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
[8] "So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
[9] "Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
[10] "Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."
[11] But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?"
[12] So He said, "I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain."
[13] Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?"
[14] And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
[15] Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: 'The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.' |
| | 2013년 09월 28일 (토) | | | 내가 누구이기에 | | [ 출애굽기 3:7 - 3:15 ] - 찬송가 390장 | | | 모세가 하나님께 아뢰되 내가 누구이기에 바로에게 가며 - 출애굽기 3:11 | 오래 전, 세계적으로 유명한 복음전도자 빌리 그래함이 영국의 케임브리지 대학에서 강연하도록 일정이 잡혀 있었습니다. 그러나 그는 수준 높은 사상가들 앞에서 연설할 자격이 없다고 생각했습니다. 그는 석박사 학위도 없었고 신학대학을 나오지도 않았습니다. 빌리 그래함은 아주 가까운 친구에게, “사역을 하는데 있어서 이처럼 부족하고 전혀 준비되지 않은 것처럼 느낀 적이 없었네.”라고 털어놓았습니다. 그는 기도하며 하나님의 도움을 구했고, 하나님은 그를 사용하여 그리스도의 십자가와 복음의 단순한 진리를 나누게 하셨습니다.
하나님이 모세를 택하여 이스라엘 백성을 구하기 위해 바로에게 가서 말하라는 과업을 주셨을 때, 모세 또한 부족함을 느꼈습니다. 모세는 “내가 누구이기에 바로에게 가며 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내리이까”(출 3:11)라고 물었습니다. 모세가 “말을 잘 하지 못하는 자”(4:10)이기에 자신이 효과적일지에 대해 의문을 가졌음에도 불구하고, 하나님은 “내가 반드시 너와 함께 있으리라”(3:12)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 결국 하나님의 구원 계획을 말해주고 그를 보내신 자가 누구인지 이스라엘백성들에게 알려야 한다는 것을 깨달은 모세는 “내가 무엇이라고 그들에게 말하리이까”라고 하나님께 물었고 하나님은 “스스로 있는 자가 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라”라고 대답하셨습니다(13-14절). 하나님의 이름은 “스스로 있는 자”로, 그분의 영원하시고 자존하시며 무한히 충만하신 특성을 나타내 보여줍니다.
하나님이 우리에게 하라고 하신 일을 할 능력이 우리에게 있는지 의문이 생길 때라도 우리는 하나님을 신뢰해야 합니다. 우리의 결점은 하나님의 충분하심에 비하면 사소한 것입니다. 우리는 “내가 누구입니까”라고 물을 때에 하나님이 “나는 스스로 있는 자”라고 말씀하신 것을 기억해야 합니다. |

출애굽기 3:7-15
[7] 여호와께서 이르시되 내가 애굽에 있는 내 백성의 고통을 분명히 보고 그들이 그들의 감독자로 말미암아 부르짖음을 듣고 그 근심을 알고
[8] 내가 내려가서 그들을 애굽인의 손에서 건져내고 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 지방에 데려가려 하노라

[14] 하나님이 모세에게 이르시되 나는 스스로 있는 자이니라 또 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 스스로 있는 자가 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라
[15] 하나님이 또 모세에게 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 너희 조상의 하나님 여호와 곧 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님께서 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라 이는 나의 영원한 이름이요 대대로 기억할 나의 칭호니라 |
