My favorite team had just lost its final game and the dream of a championship was now over. It was cold out and a bit gloomy as I got in the car to go to work. None of this should have mattered much, but it was shaping up to be a blue Monday.
But then a song came on the radio that transformed my perspective. It was Casting Crowns singing “Glorious Day.” “One day they led [Christ] up Calvary’s mountain, one day they nailed Him to die on a tree.” Nothing encouraging yet. “Suffering anguish, despised and rejected”—more bad news. But then the song describes the good news of Christ’s resurrection and His victory over death.
Out of that worst of days—out of the noontime darkness on that Jerusalem hillside—has come the only true hope for mankind. Because Jesus “took the nails for me,” as the song says, “He carried my sins far away.” And one day He’s coming back—“O glorious day!”
Perhaps today did not start out well for you. Maybe you face a host of trouble that threatens to turn this into a day of despair. Turn your attention to Jesus. Review what He did for you at Calvary and how He conquered death by His resurrection: “He is not here; for He is risen”!(Matt.28:6). That can make any day a glorious day! |

Matthew 27:27-31;28:1-6
[27] Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.
[28] And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
[29] When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
[30] Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.
[31] And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.
[28:1] Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
[2] And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.
[3] His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
[4] And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
[5] But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.

| | 2013년 10월 21일 (월) | | | 오 영광의 그날! | | [ 마태복음 27:27 - 27:31 ] - 찬송가 168장 | | | 그가 여기 계시지 않고…살아나셨느니라 - 마태복음 28:6 | 내가 좋아하는 팀이 결승전에서 지고, 우승을 향한 꿈이 사라진 바로 그 다음 날이었습니다. 출근하려고 차에 탈 때 밖은 춥고 약간 우중충한 날씨였습니다. 이런 날씨가 별 문제될 일이 아니었는데도, 그날따라 월요일을 우울하게 만들고 있었습니다.
그런데 그때 라디오에서 흘러나온 찬양 한 곡이 내 기분을 바꾸어주었습니다. 그 곡은 캐스팅 크라운스라는 크리스천 록 밴드가 부르는 “영광의 그날”(새찬송가 168장)이었습니다. “갈보리 산으로 끌려가시사 십자가 위에서 죽으신 날.” 아직 용기를 주는 말은 없습니다. “가시관 쓰시고 피 흘리시사.” 더 나쁜 소식입니다. 그러나 노래는 곧 그리스도의 부활과, 죽음을 이기신 승리의 좋은 소식으로 이어집니다.
그 예루살렘의 언덕, 정오의 시간에 어둠이 임했던 그 최악의 날로부터 인류를 위한 유일하고 진정한 희망이 찾아왔습니다. “내 죄를 담당하사”라고 찬송가에서 말하고 있는 것처럼, 예수님이 “나를 위해 못 박히셨기” 때문입니다. 그리고 언젠가 그분은 “영광의 그날”에 다시 오실 것입니다.
어쩌면 오늘 당신의 하루가 좋게 시작되지 않았을지도 모르고, 오늘을 절망의 날로 만들 것 같은 징후를 보이는 여러 문제들과 직면하고 있는지도 모르겠습니다. 그럴 때 당신의 관심을 예수님께로 돌려보십시오. 예수님이 당신을 위해 갈보리 언덕에서 하신 일과, 부활하심으로 어떻게 사망을 정복하셨는지를 되돌아보십시오. “그가 여기 계시지 않고…살아나셨느니라”(마 28:6). 그렇게 하시면 어떤 날이든 영광의 날로 만들 수 있습니다! |

[29] 가시관을 엮어 그 머리에 씌우고 갈대를 그 오른손에 들리고 그 앞에서 무릎을 꿇고 희롱하여 이르되 유대인의 왕이여 평안할지어다 하며
[30] 그에게 침 뱉고 갈대를 빼앗아 그의 머리를 치더라
[31] 희롱을 다 한 후 홍포를 벗기고 도로 그의 옷을 입혀 십자가에 못 박으려고 끌고 나가니라
[28:1] 안식일이 다 지나고 안식 후 첫날이 되려는 새벽에 막달라 마리아와 다른 마리아가 무덤을 보려고 갔더니
[2] 큰 지진이 나며 주의 천사가 하늘로부터 내려와 돌을 굴려 내고 그 위에 앉았는데
[3] 그 형상이 번개 같고 그 옷은 눈 같이 희거늘
[4] 지키던 자들이 그를 무서워하여 떨며 죽은 사람과 같이 되었더라
[5] 천사가 여자들에게 말하여 이르되 너희는 무서워하지 말라 십자가에 못 박히신 예수를 너희가 찾는 줄을 내가 아노라
