04 December Fri, 2015 Worry-Free [ Psalms 37:1 - 37:9 ] - hymn543 Do not fret because of those who are evil. - Psalm 37:1 Trying to stay aware of current events has its downside because bad news sells better than good news. It’s easy to become overly concerned about the criminal acts of individuals, crowds, or governments over whom we have no control. Psalm 37 gives perspective to the daily news. David begins by saying, “Do not fret because of those who are evil”(v.1). Then he proceeds to outline for us some alternatives to becoming overly anxious. In essence, David suggests a better way of thinking about negative news in our world. What would happen if, instead of worrying about events beyond our control, we chose to trust in the Lord? (v.3). Wouldn’t we be better off to “take delight in the Lord”(v.4) rather than fret without limits? Imagine the freedom from worry we could have if we would “commit [our] way to the Lord”(v.5). And how calm we could be by learning to “be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him”!(v.7). News of trouble we cannot change offers us an opportunity to set boundaries for our concerns. As we trust God, commit our ways to Him, and rest in Him, our outlook brightens. The struggles and trials may not disappear, but we will discover that He gives us His peace in the midst of them. - Dave Branon     Lord, we see danger and trouble all around us. Help us not to worry but instead to trust and rest in You. Show us the peace that comes from waiting patiently on You. Obstacles give us the opportunity to trust God. Psalm 37:1-9 [1] A Psalm of David. Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. [2] For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. [3] Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. [4] Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. [5] Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. [6] He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. [7] Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. [8] Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret--it only causes harm. [9] For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth.

2015년 12월 04일 (금) 걱정에서 해방 [ 시편 37:1 - 37:9 ] - 찬송가 543장 악을 행하는 자들 때문에 불평하지 말며 불의를 행하는 자들을 시기하지 말지어다 - 시편 37:1 매일 세상 돌아가는 일에 관심을 갖고 살려 할 때 문제점이 있습니다. 왜냐하면 좋은 소식보다는 나쁜 소식에 더 관심을 갖게 되기 때문입니다. 우리는 곧잘 우리가 어떤 통제도 할 수 없는 개인이나 대중, 또는 정부의 범죄에 대해 지나친 걱정을 하기 쉽습니다.  시편 37편은 매일 일어나는 일들을 어떻게 바라볼 것인지 관점을 제시해줍니다. 다윗은 “악을 행하는 자들 때문에 불평하지 말며”(1절)라고 하면서, 이어서 지나치게 걱정하지 않게 되는 방안을 이야기합니다. 한마디로 말해, 다윗은 이 세상의 부정적인 소식들에 대해 더 좋은 방향으로 생각하는 방법을 제시해줍니다.  우리가 어떻게 할 수 없는 사건들에 대하여 걱정하기보다는 하나님께 맡긴다면 어떻겠습니까?(3절). “여호와를 기뻐하는”(4절) 것이 끝없이 불평하는 것보다 훨씬 더 낫지 않겠습니까? 우리가 “[우리] 길을 여호와께 맡기면”(5절), 우리가 걱정으로부터 해방될 것이라는 것을 한번 상상해보십시오. 그리고 “여호와 앞에 잠잠하고 참고 기다리라” (7절)라는 말씀대로 산다면 우리의 마음이 얼마나 평온하게 되겠습니까?  우리가 바꿀 수 없는 나쁜 소식들은 우리에게 그에 대한 걱정거리들에 경계선을 그을 수 있는 기회를 갖게 해줍니다. 우리가 하나님을 믿고, 그분께 우리의 갈 길을 맡기며, 또 그분 안에서 안식을 누린다면, 우리의 앞날은 밝게 될 것입니다. 고통과 시련이 여전히 사라지지 않을지도 모르지만, 그 가운데서 우리는 하나님께서 주시는 그분의 평화를 발견하게 될 것입니다.     주님, 우리 주변은 위험과 고난으로 둘러싸여 있습니다. 걱정 대신에 주 안에서 믿고 쉴 수 있게 도와주소서. 인내하며 주님을 기다릴 때 찾아오는 평화를 보여주소서. 고난은 하나님께 의지할 수 있는 기회를 제공해준다. 시편 37:1-9 [1] [다윗의 시] 악을 행하는 자들 때문에 불평하지 말며 불의를 행하는 자들을 시기하지 말지어다 [2] 그들은 풀과 같이 속히 베임을 당할 것이며 푸른 채소 같이 쇠잔할 것임이로다 [3] 여호와를 의뢰하고 선을 행하라 땅에 머무는 동안 그의 성실을 먹을 거리로 삼을지어다 [4] 또 여호와를 기뻐하라 그가 네 마음의 소원을 네게 이루어 주시리로다 [5] 네 길을 여호와께 맡기라 그를 의지하면 그가 이루시고 [6] 네 의를 빛 같이 나타내시며 네 공의를 정오의 빛 같이 하시리로다 [7] 여호와 앞에 잠잠하고 참고 기다리라 자기 길이 형통하며 악한 꾀를 이루는 자 때문에 불평하지 말지어다 [8] 분을 그치고 노를 버리며 불평하지 말라 오히려 악을 만들 뿐이라 [9] 진실로 악을 행하는 자들은 끊어질 것이나 여호와를 소망하는 자들은 땅을 차지하리로다

 Psalm 37:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, the stanzas of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

 

INSIGHT:

The invitation of Psalm 37 is not simply to lay down our anxiety but to replace it with something far better—trust and delight in the Lord (vv. 3-4). Replacing worry with trust is also a concern of the apostle Paul when he tells the Christians in Philippi, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).

 

 

 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind

and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 

There is no commandment greater than these.”
