Date: 2011-11-19 Read:Jonah 1 When God Cleans House Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. -Ephesians 4:31 Hymn332 God did some fall housecleaning this week. He  sent a mighty wind through our neighborhood  that made the trees tremble and shake loose  their dead branches. When it finished, I had a  mess to clean up.  In my own life, God sometimes works in a similar way. He will send or allow stormy circumstances  that shake loose the “lifeless branches” I’ve  been refusing to release. Sometimes it’s someth-  ing that once was good, like an area of ministry,  but is no longer bearing fruit. More often it’s  something that’s not good, like a bad habit I’ve  slid into or a stubborn attitude that prevents 나꼼수 26회new growth.  The Old Testament prophet Jonah discovered  what can happen when one refuses to get rid  of a stubborn attitude. His hatred for the Ninevi-  tes was stronger than his love for God, so God  sent a great storm that landed Jonah in a giant  fish (Jonah 1:4,17). God preserved the  reluctant prophet in that unlikely place and gave  him a second chance to obey (2:10; 3:1-3).  The lifeless limbs in my yard caused me to think  of attitudes that God expects me to dispose of.  Paul’s letter to the Ephesians lists some of them:  bitterness, anger, and evil speech (4:31). When  God shakes things up, we need to get rid of  what He shakes loose.  Lord, give me a listening heart and help me  to cooperate with You when You  point out changes that need  to be made in my life.  I want to honor You and please You. Amen. Christ’s cleansing power can remove  the most stubborn stain of sin.

날짜: 2011-11-19 요나 1 하나님의 대청소 너희는 모든 악독과 노함과 분냄과 떠드는 것과 훼방하는 것을 모든 악의와 함께 버리고－에베소서 4:31 찬송가332 하나님께서 이번 주에 가을 대청소를 하셨습니다. 강한 바람이 불게 하셔서 내가 사는 동네의 나무들을 흔들어 죽은 가지들이 다 떨어지도록 하셨습니다. 바람이 잔잔해지자 치워야 할 가지들이 잔뜩 쌓여 있었습니다.  하나님은 내 삶에서도 가끔 비슷하게 역사하십니다. 하나님은 내가 버리지 못하고 있는 “죽은 가지”들이 흔들려 떨어지도록 폭풍이 몰아치는 상황을 허락하십니다. 가끔 어떤 사역처럼 한 때 잘 진행되다가 더 이상 열매를 맺지 못할 때 그렇게 하십니다. 하지만 많은 경우, 그 죽은 가지는 내가 빠져버린 나쁜 습관이거나, 새로운 발전을 가로막고 있는 완고한 태도 같은 것들입니다.  구약의 요나 선지자는 사람이 완고한 태도를 버리지 않을 때 어떤 일이 일어날 수 있는 지를 알게 되었습니다. 요나가 하나님을 사랑하는 마음보다 니느웨 사람들을 증오하는 마음이 더 강했기 때문에, 하나님은 거대한 폭풍을 보내어 큰 물고기로 하여금 요나를 삼키도록 하셨습니다(욘 1:4,17). 하나님은 순종하기를 망설이는 선지자를 의외의 장소에 가두시고 순종할 수 있는 두 번째 기회를 주셨습니다(2:10; 3:1-3).  마당에 쌓인 죽은 나뭇가지들을 보면서 하나님의 뜻에 따라 내가 버려야 할 태도들을 생각하게 했습니다. 바울이 에베소의 성도들에게 보낸 편지에 그 중 몇 가지가 기록되어 있습니다. 악독과 분냄, 훼방하는 말 등입니다(4:31). 하나님이 그런 것들을 흔드시면, 그분이 흔들어 떨어지게 하시는 것들을 그대로 버려야 합니다.  주님, 내게 귀 기울여 듣는 마음을 주사  내 삶에서 변화되어야 할 것들을 보여주실 때  당신께 순종하게 하소서  당신을 높이고 기쁘게 하기를 원합니다. 아멘 정결하게 하는 그리스도의 능력은  가장 지우기 힘든 죄의 얼룩마저도 지울 수 있다.

Jonah 1

Jonah’s Disobedience

 ¹ The word of the LORD came to ^(A)Jonah the son of Amittai saying, ² “Arise, go to ^(B)Nineveh the great city and ^(C)cry against it, for their ^(D)wickedness has come up before Me.” ³ But Jonah rose up to flee to ^(E)Tarshish ^(F)from the presence of the LORD. So he went down to ^(G)Joppa, found a ship which was going to Tarshish, paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

 ⁴ The ^(H)LORD hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea so that the ship was about to ^[a]break up. ⁵ Then the sailors became afraid and every man cried to ^(I)his god, and they ^(J)threw the ^[b]cargo which was in the ship into the sea to lighten it ^[c]for them. But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, lain down and fallen sound asleep. ⁶ So the captain approached him and said, “How is it that you are sleeping? Get up, ^(K)call on your god. Perhaps your ^(L)god will be concerned about us so that we will not perish.”

 ⁷ Each man said to his mate, “Come, let us ^(M)cast lots so we may ^[d]learn on whose account this calamity has struck us.” So they cast lots and the ^(N)lot fell on Jonah. ⁸ Then they said to him, “^(O)Tell us, now! on whose account has this calamity struck us? What is your ^(P)occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” ⁹ He said to them, “I am a ^(Q)Hebrew, and I ^(R)fear the LORD ^(S)God of heaven who ^(T)made the sea and the dry land.”

 ¹⁰ Then the men became extremely frightened and they said to him, “^[e]How could you do this?” For the men knew that he was ^(U)fleeing from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. ¹¹ So they said to him, “What should we do to you that the sea may become calm ^[f]for us?”—for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy. ¹² He said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm ^[g]for you, for I know that ^(V)on account of me this great storm has come upon you.” ¹³ However, the men ^[h]rowed desperately to return to land but they could not, for the sea was becoming even stormier against them. ¹⁴ Then they called on the ^(W)LORD and said, “We earnestly pray, O LORD, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life and do not put innocent blood on us; for ^(X)You, O LORD, have done as You have pleased.”

 ¹⁵ So they picked up Jonah, threw him into the sea, and the sea ^(Y)stopped its raging. ¹⁶ Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made ^(Z)vows.

 ^17 [i]And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the ^(AA)stomach of the fish three days and three nights.
