What shall I give  you?"―1 Kings 3:5 Hymn542 I've been told that "three-wish stories" occur in  almost every cul-ture, all following a similar the-  me: A benefactor appears and offers to grant  three wishes to an unsuspecting ben-eficiary.  The fact that the stories so often occur sugg-  ests we all want something we cannot get on  our own.  There's even a "wish story" in the Bible. It ha-  ppened one night when the Lord appeared to  Solomon in a dream and said to him, "Ask! What  shall I give you?"(1 Kings 3:5). Solomon could  have asked for anything―riches, honor, fame, or  power. But he asked for none of these things.  He requested "an understanding heart"(v.9), or  a "hearing heart," a humble heart to listen and  learn from God's Word. The young,  inexperienced king, weighed down with the  responsibilities of ruling a vast nation, needed  the Lord's wisdom to govern well.  Am I that wise? If God spoke to me directly and asked what He could do for me, what would I  ask for? Would I ask for health, wealth, youth,  power, or prestige? Or would I ask for wisdom,  holiness, and love? Would I be wise or foolish?  Suppose God asked you what He could give to you. 날짜: 2011-12-09 열왕기상 3:1-9 내가 네게 무엇을 줄꼬 하나님이 이르시되 내가 네게 무엇을 줄꼬 너는 구하라－열왕기상 3:5 찬송가542 “세 가지 소원 이야기”는 거의 모든 문화권에서 비슷한 줄거리로 전해지고 있다고 들었습니다. 은혜를 베푸는 한 사람이 나타나, 이를 의심하지 않는 한 수혜자에게 세 가지 소원을 들어주겠다고 하는 것입니다. 이런 이야기들이 그렇게 많다는 것은, 우리 모두는 우리 힘으로는 가질 수 없는 무엇인가를 갖고 싶어 한다는 사실을 말해줍니다.  성경에도 “소원 이야기”가 있습니다. 어느 날 밤 여호와께서 솔로몬의 꿈에 나타나 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 네게 무엇을 줄꼬 너는 구하라”(왕상 3:5). 솔로몬은 부, 영광, 명예 또는 권력, 그 어느 것이든 구할 수 있었습니다. 그러나 그는 이것들 중 어느 것도 구하지 않았습니다. 그는 “지혜로운 마음”(9절), 또는 “듣는 마음”, 즉 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 배우려는 겸손한 마음을 구하였습니다. 큰 나라를 다스리는 무거운 책임감에 눌려 있었던 이 젊고 경험이 부족한 왕은 나라를 잘 통치하기 위하여 하나님의 지혜가 필요했던 것입니다.  나는 그렇게 현명한가? 만약 하나님이 나에게 직접 말씀하시고 나를 위해서 무엇을 해줄 것인지 물으신다면, 나는 무엇을 구할 것인가? 건강, 부, 젊음, 권력, 또는 명성을 구할 것인가, 아니면 지혜, 거룩함, 그리고 사랑을 구할 것인가? 나는 현명할 것인가 아니면 어리석을 것인가?  하나님이 당신에게 무엇을 줄까고 물으셨다고 가정해 봅시다. 당신은 무엇을 구하겠습니까?  진정한 지혜는 의지하는 데에 있네  예수 그리스도 우리 주님께  진정한 지혜는 신뢰하는 데에 있네  생명을 주시는 예수님의 말씀을 하나님의 지혜는 그것을 겸손히 하나님께 구하는 자에게 주어진다

Solomon’s Rule Consolidated

 ¹ Then ^(A)Solomon ^[a]formed a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter ^(B)and brought her to the city of David ^(C)until he had finished building his own house and the house of the LORD and ^(D)the wall around Jerusalem. ^2 (E)The people were still sacrificing on the high places, because there was no house built for the name of the LORD until those days.

 ³ Now ^(F)Solomon loved the LORD, ^(G)walking in the statutes of his father David, except he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. ^4 (H)The king went to ^(I)Gibeon to sacrifice there, ^(J)for that was the great high place; Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. ^5 (K)In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon ^(L)in a dream at night; and God said, “^(M)Ask what you wish Me to give you.”

Solomon’s Prayer

 ⁶ Then Solomon said, “^(N)You have shown great lovingkindness to Your servant David my father,^(O)according as he walked before You in ^[b]truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and ^(P)You have ^[c]reserved for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ Now, O LORD my God, ^(Q)You have made Your servant king in place of my father David, yet ^(R)I am but a little child; ^(S)I do not know how to go out or come in. ^8 (T)Your servant is in the midst of Your people which You have chosen, ^(U)a great people who are too many to be numbered or counted. ⁹ So ^(V)give Your servant ^[d]an understanding heart to judge Your people ^(W)to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this ^[e]great people of Yours?”
