관점의 문제 (A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE) by David McCasland

             high desert. It is also acclaimed as one of the world’s best places for serious rock climbers.

 

         내가 그와 그 온 군대를인하여 영광을 얻어 애굽사람으로 나를 여호와인줄 알게 하리라

출애굽기 14:1-14

당신은 문제를 일으키는 사람입니까, 아니면 문제를 해결하는 사람입니까?

직장 회의나 교회 모임이나 또는 가족회의에서 다른 사람이 왜 그런 식으로 행동하는지

이해하려고 하다가 화가 나면 대개 이런 질문을 종종 하게 됩니다.

이 질문에 대한 해답은 대개는 관점의 문제입니다.

400년간의 노예생활 끝에 애굽을 떠나는 이스라엘 백성 가운데 있었다면 우리는 십중팔구

바로를 문제를 일으키는 사람으로 여겼을 것입니다. 사실 그는 그랬습니다.

하지만 하나님은 그 이상의 것을 보셨습니다.

하나님은 모세에게 백성들을 애굽 쪽으로 되돌려서 바로가 공격하도록 홍해를 등지고

진을 치라는 이해할 수 없는 명령을 내리셨습니다(출 14:1-3).

이스라엘 백성들은 죽임을 당할 거라고 생각했습니다.

그러나 하나님은 바로와 그의 군대를 통해서 스스로 영광과 존귀를 받으시며

애굽 사람으로 나를 여호와인 줄 알게 하리라”(4, 17-18절)고 말씀하셨습니다.

왜 하나님이 우리를 뒤엎을 것 같은 위협적인 상황을 허락하시는지 도저히 이해가 안 될

때에는, 하나님이 우리의 유익과 자신의 영광을 염두에 두고 계신다는 것을 기억하면

도움이 됩니다.

우리가 “아버지, 이 상황 속에서도 제가 당신을 신뢰하고 영광 돌리게 하소서”라고

기도할 수만 있다면, 우리는 하나님의 관점과 계획에 함께 협력해 나가게 될 것입니다.

 

믿음은 우리가 납득할 수 없는 것을 받아들일 수 있게 해준다.

  여호수아나무들

( Joshua가 하늘을 향해서 두팔을 번쩍들고 기도하는 모습 같다고 Mormon setters 지은이름)

 The name Joshua tree was given by a group of Mormon settlers who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid-19th century. The tree's unique shape reminded them of a Biblicalstory in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky in prayer. 

I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army,

that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. -Exodus 14:4

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? Whether that question is posed during a business meeting, a church council, or a family discussion, it often springs from a sense of exasperation in trying to comprehend why someone has acted in a certain way. More often than not, the answer is a matter of perspective.If we had been among the Israelites leaving Egypt after 400 years of slavery, we would likely have seen Pharaoh as part of the problem—and he was. Yet God saw something more.Inexplicably, the Lord told Moses to take the people back toward Egypt and camp with their backs to the Red Sea so Pharaoh would attack them (Ex. 14:1-3). The Israelites thought they were going to die, but God said that He would gain glory and honor for Himself through Pharaoh and all his army, “and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord” (vv.4,17-18).When we simply cannot understand why God allows circumstances that threaten to overwhelm us, it’s good to remember that He has our good and His glory in mind. If we can say, “Father, please enable me to trust and honor You in this situation,” then we will be in concert with His perspective and plan.
