David sighed, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest” (Ps. 55:6). As for me, I’d build a cabin in the Sawtooths, or take a permanent post in a fire-lookout tower. When life weighs on me, I too yearn to fly away and be at rest.		다윗은 탄식하며 “내가 비둘기 같이 날개가 있으면 날아가서 편히 쉬리로다”(시편 55:6)라고 했습니다. 내가 만약 그렇다면 나는 아이다호의 쏘투스산맥에 오두막집을 짓든지, 아니면 화재감시탑에다 평생 거할 처소를 마련하겠습니다. 하지만 삶이 힘들어지면 나 또한 날아가서 편히 쉬고 싶어지겠지요.
David wrote freely about his circumstances: Violence, oppression, and strife surrounded him on all sides, stirred up by the disloyalty of an old friend (55:8-14). Fear and terror, pain and trembling, anxiety and restlessness overwhelmed him (vv.4-5). Is it any wonder he longed to fly away?		다윗은 그가 처한 상황에 대해 거리낌 없이 썼습니다. 옛 친구의 배신에서 비롯되어 (55:8-14) 사방으로 그를 에워싸고 있었던 폭력과 압제, 그리고 전쟁으로 인해 두려움과 공포, 고통과 떨림, 걱정과 불안이 그를 압도하고 있었습니다(4-5절). 그가 날아가고 싶어 했던 것이 이상한가요?
But escape was impossible. He could not evade his lot. He could only give his circumstances to God: “As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice” (vv.16-17).		그러나 그것들로부터 도망간다는 것은 불가능했고, 그의 운명을 피할 수도 없었습니다. 그가 할 수 있는 일이라고는 오직 하나님께 그의 형편을 털어놓는 것 밖에 없었습니다. “나는 하나님께 부르짖으리니 여호와께서 나를 구원하시리로다 저녁과 아침과 정오에 내가 근심하여 탄식하리니 여호와께서 내 소리를 들으시리로다”(16-17절).
Whatever our circumstances—a burdensome ministry, a difficult marriage, joblessness, or a deep loneliness—we can give them to God. He has lifted the burden of our sins; will He not lift the weight of our sorrows? We have trusted Him with our eternal souls; can we not entrust our present circumstances to Him? “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (55:22). —David Roper		힘겨운 사역이나, 어려운 결혼생활, 실직, 또는 심한 외로움 등, 어떤 상황에 처해 있든지 우리는 그것들을 하나님께 털어놓을 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리 죄의 짐을 들어 올려주셨습니다. 그런 그분이 어찌 우리 슬픔의 무거운 짐을 들어 올려주지 않으시겠습니까? 우리의 영원한 영으로 주님을 믿어 왔는데 어찌 우리의 현재의 상황들을 그분에게 맡기지 못하십니까? “네 짐을 여호와께 맡겨버려라 그가 너를 붙드시리라”(55:22).
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?  Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?  Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,  And you will be singing as the days go by. —Oatman		많은 걱정거리로 짐이 무거운가?  부름 받은 십자가가 무거워 보이는가?  받은 많은 축복들을 헤아려보라, 모든 의심이 날아가리니  노래로 나날들을 보내게 되리라
Because God cares about us, we can leave our cares with Him.		하나님께서 우리를 염려하시기 때문에 우리의 근심걱정을 그분께 맡길 수 있다.

 

Psalm 55:4-22

 ⁴ My ^(A)heart is in anguish within me, 
And the terrors of ^(B)death have fallen upon me. 
⁵ Fear and ^(C)trembling come upon me, 
And ^[a](D)horror has overwhelmed me. 
⁶ I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! 
I would fly away and ^[b](E)be at rest. 
⁷ “Behold, I would wander far away, 
I would ^(F)lodge in the wilderness. 
                         ^[c]Selah.

⁸ “I would hasten to my place of refuge 
From the ^(G)stormy wind and tempest.”

For I have seen ^(I)violence and strife in the city. 
¹⁰ Day and night they go around her upon her walls, 
And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.
