03 April Tue, 2012 THE NAME [ Matthew 1:18 - 1:25 ] - hymn96 You shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins. -Matthew 1:21 What is it about a name that makes it so special to us? I began thinking about this after talking to a teenager as we stood outside her church in Black River, Jamaica, one Sunday morning. She asked, “Would you mention my name in Our Daily Bread?” I asked her if she had a story to tell, and she said, “No, just mention my name.” As I thought about her request-and her name-I wondered why her parents named her “Joyeth.” Seeing the happy nature of her personality led me to conclude that if their rationale was to urge her along toward “joy” in her life, they had succeeded. Most parents have that choice when a new baby is coming. But one baby received His name in a far different way. It wasn’t His parents’ choice that led to His moniker, and His wasn’t a name given to coax Him toward a personality trait. I’m speaking of the one whose name was provided by an angel who told His parents to “call His name Jesus”(Matt.1:21). Why? “For He will save His people from their sins.” No wonder His is the name above all names (Phil.2:9). It’s a name that reveals His purpose-to provide salvation from the penalty of our sins. Jesus is indeed the name worth mentioning. - Dave Branon     The name above all other names Is Jesus Christ the Lord; He came to save us from our sins So we could be restored. - Sper Jesus: His name and His mission are one and the same. Matthew 1:18-25 [18] Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows： After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. [19] Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. [20] But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. [21] "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins." [22] So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying： [23] "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." [24] Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, [25] and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

2012년 04월 03일 (화) 이름 [ 마태복음 1:18 - 1:25 ] - 찬송가 96장 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 그들의 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라 - 마태복음 1:21 이름이 우리에게 특별하게 여겨지는 이유는 무엇일까요? 어느 주일 아침에 나는 자메이카의 블랙 리버에 있는 한 교회에서 어떤 10대 소녀와 이야기를 나눈 후에 이것에 대해 생각해보게 되었습니다. 소녀는 “‘오늘의 양식’에 제 이름을 실어주실래요?”라고 부탁했습니다. 혹시 무슨 실을 만한 이야깃거리라도 있는지를 묻자 소녀는 “아뇨, 그냥 이름만 실어주세요.”라고 대답했습니다. 나는 그 소녀의 부탁과 그녀의 이름에 대하여 생각하면서 왜 그 부모가 딸의 이름을 “기쁨”이라고 지었는지 궁금했습니다. 그런데 그 여자 아이의 기쁨에 찬 성격을 보니 자기 딸이 인생에서 “기쁨”을 향해 나가도록 격려하기 위해서 그렇게 이름을 지어주었고 그러한 부모의 바람이 이루어졌다고 결론을 내릴 수 있었습니다. 대부분의 부모들은 새로 아기가 태어나면 이렇게 이름을 선택합니다. 그런데 어떤 아기는 그 이름이 전혀 다른 방법으로 지어졌습니다. 주님을 뜻하는 것이 된 이 이름은 부모가 선택한 것도 아니었고, 또 어떤 특정한 성품으로 그를 인도하기 위한 것도 아니었습니다. 나는 지금 아기 예수에 관하여 말하고 있습니다. 예수님의 이름은 요셉과 마리아에게 나타나 “이름을 예수라 하라”(마 1:21)라고 한 천사에 의해 주어진 이름입니다. 왜냐고요? “이는 그가 자기 백성을 죄에서 구원할 자”이셨기 때문입니다. 그의 이름이 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름이라는 사실이 전혀 놀랍지 않습니다(빌 2:9). 그 이름은 우리의 죄의 형벌로부터 구원을 베푸시려는 주님의 목적을 나타내는 이름입니다. 예수, 그 이름은 정말 불러볼 가치가 있는 이름입니다.     모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름 주 예수 그리스도시라네 그가 우리를 죄에서 구원하러 오셨기에 우리가 다시 회복될 수 있었네 예수: 그분의 이름과 사명은 완전히 일치한다. 마태복음 1:18-25 [18] 예수 그리스도의 나심은 이러하니라 그 모친 마리아가 요셉과 정혼하고 동거하기 전에 성령으로 잉태된 것이 나타났더니 [19] 그 남편 요셉은 의로운 사람이라 저를 드러내지 아니하고 가만히 끊고자 하여 [20] 이 일을 생각할 때에 주의 사자가 현몽하여 가로되 다윗의 자손 요셉아 네 아내 마리아 데려오기를 무서워 말라 저에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된 것이라 [21] 아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라 [22] 이 모든 일의 된 것은 주께서 선지자로 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이니 가라사대 [23] 보라 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이요 그 이름은 임마누엘이라 하리라 하셨으니 이를 번역한즉 하나님이 우리와 함께 계시다 함이라 [24] 요셉이 잠을 깨어 일어나서 주의 사자의 분부대로 행하여 그 아내를 데려왔으나 [25] 아들을 낳기까지 동침치 아니하더니 낳으매 이름을 예수라 하니라
